The Pirate Bay - The world's largest BitTorrent tracker

I've been reading through these for awhile. I am now officially a fan of ThePirateBay.org and will only be downloading my torrents from them.

We demand that you immediately disable the torrent and/or tracker and
prevent further distribution of Apple's trade secret and copyrighted
material.

We demand that you provide us with entertainment by sending more legal
threats. Please?

First off the PirateBay website is not illegal like most people think its actually fully legal.

Torrents are not illegal its the files which they point to which are illegal, downloading small fractions of files are not copyright concerns and it only become a copyright issue when you have enough of those bits to form the file structure.

Also the PirateBay owners are in a country which doesn't have internet laws, basically they cannot be prosecuted because they are in the country they are in and also again because torrents are not illegal.

Man I've had countless arguments with everyone about the legality of torrents haha.

EDIT: The below quote also proves my point.

Apple also demands all information
> related to the identity of the persons who created such torrent files
> and/or who uploaded the software referenced by those torrent files, as
> well as the identities of all individuals who participated in the
> uploading and downloading of Apple's software.
They want the people who created the torrents which point to the illegal files because that is illegal but the torrent networks themselves are not illegal, we need better laws to straighten everything out.

But I love all the threats the PirateBay gets its halarious with what they respond with.

Wow I keep editing this.

By far my favorite one

As you may or may not be aware, Sweden is not a state in the United States
of America. Sweden is a country in northern Europe.
Unless you figured it out by now, US law does not apply here.
For your information, no Swedish law is being violated.

Please be assured that any further contact with us, regardless of medium,
will result in
a) a suit being filed for harassment
b) a formal complaint lodged with the bar of your legal counsel, for
sending frivolous legal threats.
and they were being so nice...

It is the opinion of us and our lawyers that you are ....... morons, and
that you should please go sodomize yourself with retractable batons.

Please also note that your e-mail and letter will be published in full on
Download music, movies, games, software! The Pirate Bay - The world's largest BitTorrent tracker.

Go fuck yourself.

Polite as usual,

Yeah I've been exclusively using them ever since I came across their legal threats section. I wish they'd post more!

I love the attitude these guys have, but the only problem with TPB is that being a public site, groups like the RIAA just load the torrent, and then take down the details of every person seeding a tracker.
Once you hit the magic number (500 different uploads, I believe) you make their hit list as someone to go after in the future as a "major distributor" of pirated material. I had another buddy in the online tracking business who got hired out by ARIA for this. We had a falling out over it, particularly as he pirated software like crazy and said it was different *jerk off motion*

But yeah, it's the legal loophole Aequitas is talking about that allows the network I'm with to operate...
Funnily enough, the money in it is HUGE. One of our affiliates who's getting type-in traffic around TPB is making up to $20k on a good week, and now the Dutch tax department are asking all sorts of inconvenient questions heheh

nice chunk of change

Shame the cunts are trying to bribe the swedish government to change their laws. Hope they stick up for themselves and don't give in to US pressure. The US government has even been involved in trying to corrupt the swedes... again using their might to export their particular brand of so-called democracy.

Fuck the RIAA. Fuck the Hollywood studios. Fuck outdated copyright laws. Fuck the pseudo-democratic US regime that values big business more then it's own citizens.

Lazy Hippy, I am sure glad that you are not in the US as we do not need any more liberal assholes. We have enough home grown ones.

I couldn't agree more.

Like Wattie says:

There really is nothing nice about USA
You go to the hospital you have to pay
The dollar is the language that they all speak
they don't really bother about the radiation leak

FUCK THE USA

They keep their secrets undercover
the rich don't bother about those that suffer
this ain't the land of milk and honey
cause all they want is money money money

FUCK THE USA

Nuclear bombs are fuck all new
you'd better start running when they drop on you
run into a shelter, play hide and seek
cause when you die your body reeks

FUCK THE USA

There really is nothing nice about USA
You go to the hospital you have to pay
The dollar is the language that they all speak
they don't really bother about the radiation leak

FUCK THE USA

Don't worry, I would never choose to live in a country ruled by a regime that thinks the best use of taxpayers money is to serve the interests of whichever company lobbies hardest and bribes the most politicians, a regime that spends much more on the military than on the health of it's own citizens, a regime that sends the majority of it's international aid to another rich country rather than the places that really need it (again due to the lobbying and corruption), a regime that loves to spout rhetoric about freedom but happily incarcerates thousands of people, depriving them of their human rights - guilty or not - inventing new terms for them to avoid international law.

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the picture...

Freedom!! :error: Democracy!! :error:

You should probably pack your shit up and leave the earth then. Good luck finding this mythical place.

Sadly, you are right. But some countries are a lot better at putting the interests of their citizens above those of Big Business. I'd prefer it if Britain was more like some other European countries, such as Sweden, but I'm very glad it's not as corrupt here as the US.

Speaking of countries that don't care for copyright laws, has anyone noticed a general slow down in Demonoid since it moved to Croatia?

Lazyhippy: Westminster system for the win :D

I think it was all the downtime - I stopped checking and didn't realise it was back up until ages after it was.

Westminster System - yes and no. I think it is much better for the important decision makers (sec of defence etc) to be chosen from elected officials, rather than appointed at the whim of the leader and giving one person too muh power easily leads to megalomania. However, letting only the members of the party have a say in choosing the leader leads to situations such as the present one here where the leader of the nation was elected by the public as an MP only, not as PM.
