I just got back from the midnight showing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I thought it was awful, I don't even know why they bothered making it.

I have been a huge Indy fan ever since I was a little kid. They just completely butchered an Indy movie, and it doesn't even feel like an Indy movie. I am so pissed. We waited 20 years for this ?! I am very disappointed.

Weak storyline, VERY VERY STUPID plot, most dialog and emotions are unbelievable, stupid villain, no connection to the characters, cheezy, and the list just goes on.

It's horrible.

Anyone else seen it? how do you feel?
 


actually wait, I'm going to go see this movie right now just so I can prove this thread wrong, I'll be back in a couple hours with a strong argument as to why this was the best movie of the year.

I'll see it when I do a three movie marathon, soon. Gotta watch it with Iron Man and Speed Racer.

Is there anything at all about the movie anyone liked? It seems to be getting pretty bad reviews now. I still want to see it, though. After all, everyone hated The Village and I thought it was a great movie. ;)
 
i think Iron Man is the only Marvel movie that get closer to the first Spiderman as far as quality. They nailed the character's attitude.
 
eh... iron man was great up until the end. The whole thing with his rival building a suit was cheesy, unimaginative, and expected.
 
George Lucas is the root of all evil. First Star Wars and now this. I have to give Steven Spielberg credit for trying to turn this turd into gold.

The acting was surprisingly good, and Harrison was able to bring Indy back after 19 years. The major issue I have is that the backstory didn't feel like an Indy movie. There was no sense of urgency like there has been with the first three films. There were too many characters such as Mac and Oxley, although I wish John Hurt was used more in this film.

The special effects were over-used, and the comedy fell flat with the exception of some scenes. The ending was just horrible with no pay-off for the audience, and Spalko's death was lackluster compared to how the baddies in the other films died...
 
@myowndemon it wasn't awful but it was certainly not one of the best indy films. Maybe check it out in a matinee. I was fairly entertained throughout the movie but it was very cheesy. Very much like the temple of doom (which I had down as my least favorite indy film until this one, now it's a toss up). The dialogue was pretty bad. The characters didn't click. I don't know, maybe Harry is just old to be doing this stuff.

EDIT: oh and what the hell??? there were no booby traps! That was like my favorite thing about all the other movies.

I would like to say I liked the movie (and I did) but I think that if robert downey jr had not played Iron man it wouldn't have been nearly as good. He made the movie.
 
There were fucking huge ass "plot-holes" all over the damn screenplay. Its official J.j Abrams is the new Spielberg. I thought clover field was gonna suck only to go wow, fucking ayeee... :) , but damn Indiana jones SUCKED. Shia is a fine actor, cant wait to see his terrorist (matrix esque movie) . Dont bother honestly go watch narnia instead, those kids slaughter soldiers mercilessly. lol
