When you say scale it up, what does that mean? Brick and mortar economies of scale aside, are you simply creating more ad campaigns, targeting more, or running more sites? What's all involved and what are the variants?

Tell me to piss off if this is totally obvious, but I searched and searched and didn't find a really good explanation.

I think you have it all correct. Take what you are doing right and multiplying it.

If you are making 1000 a week take that correct formula and scale it up to 2000 a week.

Two words I live by are "Scale" and "Automation" ( in my book labor can be considered automating as well ). Scaling things is a rather simple concept. All it means is once you have a scalable system designed do it 10 fold. What is a scalable system? That means a system that's repeatable. So for example you find a nice pattern that works in ppc say for example you take 10 offers to test, build lists consistently the same way ( maybe that's by a keyword tool, scraping data, trends data... etc ) then making a landing page for each. I'm assuming you're new so you're doing this all by hand yourself. Well do that a bunch of times and you'll find patterns you follow again and again. That's where the automation comes in build scripts to do your keyword scraping and gather a team of people to build landing pages for you. Keep following the same pattern just automate more and more of it. The more you automate the more you can scale your operation which is free your time up to build other parts of your business. Hope that clears things up for you some. So one day you can run 100 test campaigns at a time looking for the nuggets.

In seo scaling usually means building more sites.
In blackhat scaling usually mean building scripts that can do 10's of thousands of things a day
In emailing scaling usually means adding more servers, buying more data
In .... well you get the point

Dead on, as always. :)

Type in "scaling a campaign" in google and the first link is this How to Scale a Campaign from Uber. It has also been reference on Wicked Fire before and if you searched this forum using the keyword "scaling" you would have easily found it. Internet 101... This link should also help educate you too... How to Search the Interweb

I did find a lot of that stuff, but had trouble sorting out what applied to a beginner and what applied to guys like you. Just wanted clarification.

Ok got ya. Yeah it all basically applies regardless of level. Same principles. Smaxor made a lot of sense too in his response, good luck...
