Thanks to all who may have bid - The auction is now over. I don't think the winner is from WF, but if you are, thanks!

It ended up at $778. No idea how much higher the winning bidder's proxy bid was, but ending in an 8 is a bit odd.

That shows I know fuck all about domains. I thought that thing was worth a couple grand.
Maybe it was, but the right buyer has to be in the right place, at the right time.

Was GoDaddy's auction the best place to list it? Maybe not. I'm new to auctioning domains (other than putting 2 on eBay 5 years ago), so I don't know the right places yet. Tried promoting it some other forums as well. I think it would've gone for more had SitePoint not done away with their domain auction feature in favor of "classifieds".

I may have another site with a pronouncable LLLL.com for sale in the coming months, and I'll see what SitePoint's site marketplace can do for me.

Once again, I'm fully aware... I would've liked to see more, but there just wasn't another bidder actually willing to pay more in the auction. If anyone has tips on the best place to actually get those bidders, it'd be good to hear.

When you've got a domain like that it would be a good idea to post a notice on as many webmaster/domaining forums as you can letting people know about the auction.

Did that. I think one mistake was not listing it at DNForum.com, but other than that, covered a ton of em.

Unarmed - Didn't see that - That post was actually done by a partner of mine.

Next site I sell will be re-developed and sold as a site + domain. Thanks to all who have provided advice here.

Eh, for all I know, the winner could've had a proxy bid up to $5000... I think GoDaddy just raises bids by $5 until there's no higher bid.
