You need to research your market/visitors more. You need to learn more. You're doing all this stuff, without even thinking it through. Which is good in some ways, for most people it's the other way around ( they learn but never do anything ).

Choose your method for generating traffic. Since you're $550 in the red, do organic SEO.

Read as much as you can about SEO, researching terms, evaluating the competition of niches, etc. Your laptopwars website has 29 links.

Look in the buy, sell and trade section. You can purchase 1000 directory submissions for like $60, get an article published across a blog network for some change, etc. Find a good term with low competition, do directory submissions, article distribution, comment blogs, etc, and then come complain. Actually check out DigitalPoint Forums. Right now you haven't done shit.

PS: Reality check: If it was so easy wouldn't everyone do it? Anyone telling you that you don't need advanced computer skills is a fucking liar, and probably trying to sell you some bullshit system. Everything you need is free, start reading and thinking things through.

I can't see laptopwars making much money compared to the adult dating/hosting/ring tones/credit cards affiliates

Im not complaining, Im just a little lost right now and need to figure out a direction to go.

google has started identifying link farms, and if you;re labeled as one it negatively rates the site that it is going to, or so I hear.

My friend told me to make more of a landing page type deal, so that's what i did with emoxgirls. I had 1000s of pics on there before and I was getting decent traffic from google images but not a single sale.

No complaints I can see this being a lucrative business, and I just need to focus more.

So here's my latest ideas, I set up a site/blog diywebpage.net, I have business cards made. I'm cold calling businesses tomorrow to attend a FREE class im offering at the community center locally, going to offer a little marketing package too, with the ability to tap into the blue tooth community.

Ideas on that?

I really don't want to trash your idea, but you set high expectations on that website ("...with a blog you can optimize your search engine position, and your product can be on the top of the search engine results..."). If you really knew how to do that you wouldn't be teaching it in a community center, you would be milking it day and night.

Also: be careful with how much you charge for setting up blogs for local business! You will become their tech support 24/7 and that gets old really fast.

Anyone care to enlighten me on what a "blue tooth community" is?

I always said in another forums when I found similar thread like this and I will say it again - "focus".

If you are new to affiliate marketing with a low budget (< $500 per month) then you should focus on a few product instead of spread out your budget to market all niche. The most important part is, you have to find your "own" way and don't listen to whoever called "Gurus" so much. Sometime you can replicate their success but most of peoples are failed to replicate "Gurus" success. Why? Simple - They won't give you the truth about how they make money. They kept their method as secret and will tell you when it is old **or** they want to sell you something like "Gurus seminar".

I was in the same way of yours. Two years ago, I had nothing but debt, made $2 from leads but paid $50 in Google Adwords. Have 100 UV/day but made $0 sale and more. I had tried to learn things from both forum and ebook but most of them didn't help me much.

If you started your thread and hope someone to enlighten your way by tell secrets to help you make money, then forget it. I bet no one here and on another forums want to give you their secret really, even me. Everyone whom success had failed many times before and you have to keep that in mind, or goto your local 7/11 to get your job.

Here are my 2 cents. First off, you're on the right track by actually getting shit done, and you're not afraid to spend money (i.e., advertising), which is a plus. Here's what I suggest.

First off, your website designs are 'spammy' and as stated above, you're not targeting at all. i.e., why would somebody who wants to make a site want to buy a laptop? Or why would somebody looking for emo porn give a shit about Halo wallpapers? Why is the wallpaper banner way bigger than the site? It seems prominent.. it looks like the girl pic is the ad, and the main site is about Halo.

(btw, I dunno if the halo 3 site is yours, but notice the links on the left are DARK GREY OVER BLACK ?!?!)

The sites don't have 'themes' that suggest what they're really for. I suggest picking up books on persuasive writing and on online marketing.. your problem is primarily targeting and trying to catch the user's view.

On Emoxgirls for example, the 'next' link is tiny, and clicking the picture should take me to the next pic. I assume that clicking the picture will at least take me to a gallery of that girl.. but it just links directly to the pic.. what am I supposed to do after? Hit back and search for something to do on your site? You're using the same theme for each site with very little modification... text is small and out of place. The girl with the cigarette picture should have a 'next' button. That's the only thing I looked for and closed the site when I couldn't find it. The next button can go to your landing page if not to more pics. Your emox page doesn't even have a title, and I had *no* idea it was an emo-girl site until I read the caption on the next pic.

I think if you take some time off of marketing and just focus on building better sites, you'd be making a good investment. Find Wordpress themes or use another CMS.. there are thousands. Make a background, put catchy text.. etc.

Your sites serve as perfect examples of what sites shouldn't be. I understand you're not tech savvy, and that's why I suggest investing time in that, or paying somebody to design for you.

GL, you'll do fine if you keep it up. peace

Thanks everyone for the feedback

With emoxgirls.com I was just lazy and wanted to build a shitty site so people would click off of it with google ads and/or sign up for webcamclub $1/ email.

I didn't do much work to it, maybe 20 minutes I brought my SEO score up to 91% from 66%, not sure what that even means. I doubt I will get any more traffic from that alone.

I added more pictures, made the "Next" larger, and the last 3 pics are like simple landing pages. I moved the aff links to the footer, added a title, ditched the link trade for the halo wallpapers.

I was looking at wordze when I first started learning. doctor excuses had 34,xxx searches a day. So I knew I wanted to do something with that. There are no aff programs that cater to fake doctor notes, so what else am I going to put on there? Site: doctordoctoronline.com

Laptopwars.com was my first site, I thought I was going to make millions from it. The first few post where great, I did all sorts of research. And then I got bored from not making any sales, but I wanted to keep the site going. Here's why: My orginal plan was to build a site covered with affiliate links, whether or not people buy wasn't a concern, I just needed some post to make it look like real site. Then I made outsidebrian.com
Basically telling people how to set up a blog, hoping they'd sign up under my hosting. So I contacted a few local newspapers saying I built this site laptopwars.com and made some money, and since aff marketing is world wide it is more recession proof. Hoping to get an article in the newspaper and then people landing on my site outsidebrian.com and signing up for hosting on their own.

Emoxgirls, I made because I was dating an emo girl at the time, and I was going to start making videos of her, but I couldn't get her to sign the 2257 notice. Started getting pics from jj.am and advertising on youtube. Since I already had the site.

I also bought the domain name do-it-for-the-drugs.com because once again wordze showed how much people search for drugs. i have no idea what type of products to market to them.

I thought I was going to do a little directory for my town, newpsonline.com but I really didn't know where to go with that.

And last but not least pickupreport.com because I thought the pick up artist community was going to get big, and people would want to know the secrets. No sign ups. I even advertised $160 on adwords, and my campaigns would just stop. I'd get the first 50 clicks 300,000 impressions within a few hours, and then it'd just stop. No idea why.

Current idea: diywebpage.net
Site I made when I was bored: Insidebrian.net and some how it has a PR3

thanks for listening and helping.

But here's what my idea was to contact my local newspaper telling them that with the slowing of the economy the website business is so much more immune to changes. I lived in a small town so I thought they would bite. My idea was to tell them I made enough from laptopwars to buy a macbook pro. Newspaper didnt bite. I called 7 other newspapers and they all declined.

Wow. I don't mean to be harsh here but some of the ideas you come up with are downright retarded and are then poorly executed to boot. How the hell did you expect a newspaper to run with your story (if that was even your plan) because you told them you made enough money online to buy a macbook pro? Seriously?

It sounds like you have the work ethic which is good because you are going to have to work 10 times as hard and as long as someone working without the existing head trauma. If you are able to make it in this business (yes you can if you try hard enough and try to STOP AND THINK before coming up with half ass ideas that don't make sense) then please go back to all those local newspapers and sell them the story of how a mentally retarded person got rich on the internet. Now that one they should run with in a heartbeat...

Let me start by saying this is maybe the first time I have not seen someone one FLAMED TO HELL for making I am trying to make monies and FAIL thread.

You have laid out what you have tried to do. I think you are not focusing and pushing things. You start one give up move on. Find a site, niche you want to push and stay at it. Do research not this gets xxx,xxx searches a month lets do a website.

The Dr thing is like someone said trying to target apples and sell oranges,

I applaud you for moving on and going forward,

Where the hell is your friend if you are trying this hard you have potential and he should be helping you.

Too many misuses of you're and your in this thread.
-rep all of you.

I agree. Also, why does everyone misuse "they're", "their", and "there"? It's like everyone has lost they're minds. :D

There is one secret that I am going to tell you. It's the most important thing anyone can ever teach you.

"Never give up.....NEVER!" (Winston Churchill)

wtfpenguin, you're in entirely the wrong mindset.

like everyone else said, FOCUS, dammit. If you just nod your head, say Thanks for feedback then turn around and make another 50 sites using the excuse "because I was bored", then the truth is you will never make it. Ever.

You've got to sit down for a minute and stop looking for every market with more than 500k searches a month and making half-assed websites for that market. You have GOT to stop. You are ABSOLUTELY WASTING your time, and you can quite logically go on indefinately failing at affiliate marketing, let alone for 7 months. There is an art to understanding every niche - every niche has its twists and turns, its customer's likes and dislikes, and certain ways of marketing that will work. EVERY niche has these things, and they are NOT things that can be gleaned by a 2 minute search on Wordze or setting up a Wordpress blog with some incredibly nonsense postings.

These things take much TIME, DEDICATION and EFFORT. And you need to FOCUS your resources (namely, money and effort) on understanding the workings of A niche. That means taking the time to research, read and synthesise others' ideas.

THEN, you need a PLAN. If you are setting up a blog, what are you going to talk about? How often do you post? Why do people want to buy from YOU? Enough childish thoughts have come through from your posts that suggest you think posting up a bunch of affiliate links is going to make you a million. Surprise: it's not. That's exactly the same as thrusting an ad for a giant mansion in front of a hobo and saying, Buy This Now.

I had a look at your fake doctor notes website - complete and utter rubbish! You say people can get their fake doctor notes, then by some miraculous turn of logic, you're posting and letting people know how they can set up a fu**ing website and make money online??? I know this may be harsh, but have you ANY inkling of the flow of logic?

Lastly, you need to focus on doing the footwork. What you've been doing is pseudo-work. It's akin to going to an office and shuffling around the paper on your desk for 8 hours, then wondering why you got fired. You can keep setting up website after website in niche after niche, busying yourself with these things and thinking, Gee, I'm working so hard! All the while you're just wasting time. Pick ONE thing, and get good at this ONE thing. Maybe you're not happy with doing that. Maybe you don't have the patience. If you can't, or worse, not willing to do these things, then quit this game. Life is too short.

You've got to turn around your thinking, BIG TIME.

The dialogue in your brain shouldn't be: "how can I set up a website as quick as possible, get content as quick as possible, and get sales as quick as possible??"

You have to focus on GIVING VALUE to your visitors. If I want to buy a laptop, I'm not going to invest 2k just because someone did a half-assed cut and paste job saying "I don't have time to give two shits about you, just give me your money".

Take the people's advice, and work with it. It's good and spot-on advice, and you can either nod your head and follow it, or you can nod your head and continue doing whatever you're doing (and then make more posts saying how you 'did a search for porn and found 938472343849 searches and how can I make money off these people?'). But the positive is that you're getting off your ass, and kudos to you for that. But scattered effort is useless. Building a room here and a room there doesn't make a house. For heaven's sake, stop and use you effing BRAIN.

If you're going down the adwords route, a word of warning. Understand it thoroughly before you throw any more money away. Don't get defensive and think "but i do! i just set up a campaign and get clicks!" it's clear from your posts that you don't have a single clue what you're doing. You don't even know how to get rid of keywords you don't want Google to show your ads for. You're getting 300,000 impressions and 50 clicks (that's 0.01% CTR). Aren't you concerned, at all? If you're not willing to dedicate work into this area, don't do it. It's too easy to lose your dough.

So first thing's first: stop working on all your websites. Choose a niche you like, & people pay money for. Plan. Do.

That's enough from me.

If you're willling to get your head out of your ass, great.

If not, I hope you have a good day.

So I contacted a few local newspapers.

Oh God. :eek7: I don't mean to sound harsh, but you're not a bright guy. Neither am I, which essentially means we need to work twice as hard as others. If anything, although unlikely, a press release would have been a better bet than hoping a newspaper would accept your article. It's not like you're raking in millions in green here that you're boasting about, but rather just a laptop. I only have one suggestion for you based on everything you've said:

Well, THAT was on hell of a first post.

Guarrenteed profit (although small)... just target one product, that nobody else is targeting... I make an average of 50 dollars a month, not much but it's a start

You know what, this is definitely a good post to quote. 50 dollars a month may not be a lot to full time AMers, but to a full time 9-5er THATS A CELL PHONE BILL (uh... a cheap ass cell phone.. but a cell phone none the less!).

I just started 9-5 and you know what, AM is paying my car payment and a little more - hopefully for a while (I also like to save money... you know, so I can have it later...).

It's not how you make your money, but how you save and spend your money. Why have a beamer if you live in a 700 sqft apt? But on the flip side, if you have a huge mansion maybe you deserve a Merc - see what I mean? It's all about a balance of money in different subjects throughout your life.

This is just my opinion though, like I said I like to save. PS - 3.5% bank account savings ain't bad return on sitting money! ;)

i know laptopwars.com sucks, and outsidebrian.com sucks.

But here's what my idea was to contact my local newspaper telling them that with the slowing of the economy the website business is so much more immune to changes. Dude, how the fuck are you gonna teach a seminar which you know nothing about? Do those people a huge favor and just don't show up....mmmkay?

Yeah...it seems like youre all over the place, swatting flies all around you.
NOt that I know anything cus ive been busy with this for about 2 months, and I realise there is soooo much more to everything its kinda scary.
I dont really know where to start.
I have to read more.

So far Ive set up one site which is an area im passionate about and something I really want to concentrate on!

Seduction Methods

I have a question...is it a waste of time using freehosting sites to set up a page or is it much better to buy a domain relative to your niche?

Thanks
D

So I've been busy as a bee lately. My friend doing this was living at home at the time, so I figured he had more money to invest in trying to see what worked and what didn't with keywords and such. So I moved back home. Ya I'm that dedicated.

I canceled the hosting for laptopwars, and insidebrian because that was 39.95 down the drain each month.

Added tons of new pictures to emoxgirls.com, did some link trades with other porn sites. Got my SEO score up to 95% Still have to do the querrystring links. Added affiliate links relvant to emo girls. Another friend who just builds a cool site with a service, and then stuffs it with cookies told me I should put each post on a new page, to increase page views. Thoughts on this? I also posted on a few forums, and had the link in my sig.

So thank you for the help getting more traffic, still no sales. I even read some pursasive writing techniques for the first 3 post.

I went to borders tonight and picked up some great books. "The pyscology of selling" So I applied what I read and redid What is affiliate marketing
Which now has an SEO score of 93%

The book said the basic reason why people buy a product is it somehow has to make them think that it's going to make their quality of life better. I can't support a product like porn, it's not going to make their quality of life better, it's going to drain their wallet, but then some other smuck will do it. So there was a few last things I wanted to do with the site, but I thought forget it, going to whore it out one last time, and call it quits. Work on something with more substance.

I thought my pickupreport.com was a decent idea? I upped my seo score on there to 96%, I haven't looked at the AWstats.

I wish there was a way to show my body language online, instead of just words. A lot of my friends tell me I could sell ice to an eskimo, maybe their just being supportive.

anyways i'm going to make a sale today, im going to make a sale today, im going to make a sale today.

Say it enough and it will happen. I really appreciate the support guys!
