Hey Guys

Had a guy come by my house last week to quote me for custom wood shutters. We started talking business and long story short, he knew nothing about the net but owns the factory that makes the wood shutters as well as sells them he said he could double production but sucks at marketing. Took a quick look on google and noticed not much competition.
He said any leads I get he'd give me 10% of gross. Whipped up landing page Friday afternoon to grab phone number and name.

Have given him 5 leads since Saturday, he went to first home today and made a "small sale" $2000...earning me $200. Cost for 5 leads approx $100, 4 leads left for him to close, will be paid in cash too which is worth even more.

I agreed to work with him on this since he manufactures them, has a great price and is a sick sick sales guy.

Just thought I'd pass on example of how you can make money offline. I will optimize the google campaign later this week add to yahoo and put on cruise control, sending this guy leads daily and letting him do all the work...

I bet there are tons of other niches out there like this including air conditioners, central vac, hardwood flooring, surround sound installation and more!

Great example of how you don't have to follow the standard path (which would be): I need something new to promote -> I got to an affiliate network.

ya i could call other companies, but like i said he owns the company that makes the shutters (competitive advantage) plus he is a really good sales guy PLUS who wants to hunt down 40 different shutter companies all over the country to get paid. I love all aspects of business, we got chatting and I thought, shit might as well try something different and interesting and possibly boost this guys business that has big upside since he owns the manufacturing facility and the product is great. Needless to say he loves seeing my number show up on his phone...at the end of the day i think focussing on online leads for dating, ringtones, poker etc is easier and more profitable due to the volume amounts. although I bet hardwood would do well since its high cost and popular, not sure about the mark up though.

I get 300-600 bucks a pop for construction leads for my brothers company. Sometimes more

I probably shouldn't have posted that but.. fuck it im drinking

why would if matter? first off its your brother and second off there are 1000's of cities out there

never for one second do i think that by bigwill posting that he gets construction leads for his brother or me posting that i get shutter leads will it hurt my ability to still generate leads and be this profitable.

there are thousands of "us" and about 1-2 if any will read this post and actually do something about it.

impossible

I have thought that before and been very, very wrong before.

Yeah, there was a similar thread started here about generating leads for a roofer.

This takes MUCH more work than just signing up with an affiliate and promoting offers so I wouldn't worry about it getting saturated anytime soon. You will have to build a good relationship with the owner so he keeps honest and doesn't start to give false numbers so he pockets more money.

True that there are thousands of us, but stuff like these shutters and builders, they're all geo-specific.

People are only going to use services in their city, and if it's a big city, only the services that are nearer to them so as to avoid delivery costs (unless they hear some really good things about a company, and even then, that good stuff will be by word of mouth IMO).

Like all geo-specific stuff, market saturation isn't going to happen unless there's another affiliate AND ANOTHER SERVICE PROVIDER in the same region.
Bigwill, does your brother have any major competition in the area? If so, are they smart enough to think about using affiliate marketing to drive sales? If the answer is no to either question, you're not going to get a market that's saturated. And even if the answer is yes, I highly doubt that many people are really going to think to affiliate within the construction industry (specifically) simply because it IS so traditionally luddite.

Just another quick example of the geo/region thing.
I've yet to come across anyone else using my bluetooth thing (other than the standard 10m radius posters and polls where I nicked the idea from in the first place), and I KNOW there are other people in here from Sydney.

I'm guessing you could call each lead yourself to find out if they bought the product or not, but how are you making sure that you will get paid for all the leads that convert? Say you send him 10 leads, 2 of which convert, but he calls and tells you he made 1 sale and pays you for it. Any system in place to ensure everything goes properly?
