Well, I got the dreaded boot email as many others did. Can anyone out there recommend a good affiliate program that might be similar to eBay?

I'm thinking about Amazon.com but seems like I read that their cookies are pretty lame and only last a day.. or maybe less.

Any thoughts are appreciated :love-smiley-085:

Hmm... maybe they are just weeding out the super spam sites? I emailed them.... will see what happens. :S

Well yeah amazon is similar, but thier commission doesnt really suck, only if you are moving small numbers. I am with Amazon and month in month out i am on 7.5% scale. You need to be moving above 400 products a month though to get there as its on a sliding scale. Cookies are 24hrs which do suck ass but amazon has so many products to promote that finding a niche is easy. there are plenty of scripts out there just as good as phpbay / bans etc to pull your feeds.

If you want to know more feel free to ask in this thread.

Peace.

Hmm well i guess i did not mean i was going to cover a-z of amazon marketing, but if you had any questions ask them here and I will answer the best I know how.

I mentioned this script in the "Did you get this email" thread. Plus, RGordon mentioned that the PHPBay guy is working on an Amazon plugin for that script. I wonder if they do datafeeds. If they do, you could roll your own and work with that.

IIRC, StoreStacker does Ebay, Amazon and Clickbank plus a few more. The template selection is limited, and you need to know a little Smarty to be able to edit them.

Associate-o-matic looks pretty good actually.

guerilla - I haven't looked in a while, but I thought Store Stacker was off the market. Maybe that changed. The more I look at all these different scripts, and how often one has to buy yet another one when something changes or the one you're using stops being supported, the more I realize I need to get my programming groove on and learn to roll my own anything and everything.

I heard some people do well with Amazon. Wade (phpBay) is working on Amazon support as we speak...

But if you want to try some other product sites join Commission Junction and Linkshare and use products from their merchants. I think you can even set up a feed on link share.

I make about $60 a month through CJ on fenderbluesjunioramps.com on top of my eBay earnings. If i ever get the boot i will promote those products pretty heavy and give amazon a shot...

Store Stacker is coming back on the market for a limited time, very soon.

If someone can't make back their investment in a month (or week!) then they shouldn't be buying the scripts. It means they can't pick niches, they can't organize keywords, they can't deploy quickly and they can't do any link building.

What really sucks about changing scripts all of the time, is having to relearn the setup and adjust your configs.

Amazon scripts

Do you recommend any particular script for pulling product info from Amazon?

Of all the amazon scripts i have used, AOM would have to top them as being the most user friendly, most customizable option. There are several out there includig (ghostscripter amazon store, goldencan amazon script, MrRats amazon script etc etc) but are all pretty lame and have achieved much less results than AOM.

I would recommend though that aom be built around content and don't just rely on using the feeds to get traffic. Amazon stores like any other affiliate products are not set and forget like some like to think. Build your content aroudn your products, link to the shop pages and viola you will get sales.

I like to add a wordpress blog to my aom sites, this way you can write quick reviews on products featured in your shop, be very seo friendly and get them deeplinks to your store pages.

If you want to know more about AOM feel free to check out the Associate O Matic website.

I can answer questions here for those who may be interested.

Well yeah, the setup and adjustments were more my point. It's a PITA to have to go back through and change things which are just a pile of PHP & MySQL anyway. Learn to make your own, and then you can get past the learning the script phase and just stay in rollout mode. At least, in a perfect world. :D

p.s. here's a non-affiliate link to AOM: hxxp://www.associate-o-matic.com/
