look at other keyword tools, I've noticed that the adword tool is sometimes very wonky. I had some keywords in the 60,000-75,000 range with adwords and show 50-60 with KD, WT, etc

i did look at some other tools (ones that showed the same keywords for google, msn, yahoo also) and the results are consistent...

is it trending? sometimes the adwords tool will show bizarre results:
keyword will have 1million searches last month, but overall it gets 20k searches a month.
type in: is it a brand name? misspelling? geeky audience?

you would be retarded to pay $5k for the site unless it's already ranked and rocking for those keywords. If you want to go after the same niche just go buy word1word2word3site.com or word1word2word3blog.com and spend your $5k on ppc and an SEO firm to build you an ocean of content and natural traffic to it.

it doesn't matter how many searches the 3 keyword phrase gets a month unless the site you're buying is #1 for the phrase.

I would never pay $5k for a site without seeing traffic reports, profit reports, etc. unless obviously if it's 'buy viagra online' or 'make money online' in which case I would buy the fugging thing and resell immediately for $10 Million, if not, screw it.

my 2 cents.

3 words that noobies search for a lot?

How about "inserting the penis"?

thanks for the responses. what are some other keyword checkers (ones you dont have to pay for) to see how many searches they get?

How about this:

1) Use Aaron wall's keyword tool to come up with multiple variations of the three keyword phrase

2) plug all the keywords into the adwords traffic tool to see what kind of CPC they get (under broad, match, phrase)

Then you may have some idea of how the market values the vertical market those keywords target. I've recently undergone some training and it's been really eye opening to come to understand the fundamental differences between

1) market research

and

2) keyword research

Further, you may also want to look at synonymic phrases related to that keyword phrase.

How many competing pages are there?

10M + pages = market category
1m + = market segment

If the domain has the potential to rank well and fast for a "wide synonymic net" (different keyword combinations plus their synonyms) you may be on to something.

Also, if you plug the keywords into google under "related phrases" google will tell you want lateral markets those keywords are related to.

So that domain could help you enter not just the obvious market but some not so obvious markets as well. There may be some co-occurrence between the words in the domain and other market segments/categories. In other words the domain could represent a lowered cost of entry for some potentially lucrative markets/niches ..

Just some ideas....
