I think I just somehow fucked myself over doing something only newbies would probably do, therefore I'm ready for the "kind" words which will be directed towards me. Go ahead, call my mother a cocksucker, I'm ready.

So after reading all I could here on the forums I decided to test out my first campaign. Here's the problem. I had only planned to try my campaign on Facebook, so I set everything up, such as tracking links from prosper202 and got my landing page looking all nice. I was getting impressions, but not clicks and being the retard that I am, I get impatient and submit the same campaign to Myspace. I didn't bother to change anything, just used the same lp url that I used for Facebook. Now I am starting to get leads, not a lot, but enough to make a newbie cream his pants. I just don't know from what source as both sources are giving me clicks.

Is there anyway to remedy this without stopping either campaign or do I suck it up and just stop one and fix the tracking? I'll give you some more info on my campaign. It is set up to where they click the ad and go to a landing page (blah.mysite.com), this page does not send them directly to the offer, but instead another page (blah.mysite.com/wtf). The second page has both the javascript and outbound tracking link from prosper202. So I am wondering what I can do.

All advice, criticisms, and the obligatory dickroll link disguised as remedy here are welcomed.

There is definitely a way to code the lp so that it directs traffic differently (to a diff affiliate link sub ID) depending on the referring URL of the traffic...but I'm pretty noobified myself when it comes to coding so I couldn't tell you what it is.

I'm sure someone else here could...

Well I thought I had prosper202 set up correctly, but I guess not because when I click Analyze>Referrers, nothing shows up. As something else to note, when setting up with prosper202 I only did steps 3, 4, and 6 (for this particular campaign) after I set up steps 1 and 2.

P.S. I seem to be full of fail today. I just noticed that I spelled attempt wrong in the thread title. Anyone know how I can edit that so people don't think I'm a retard who accidently stumbled into PPC by smashing my face against the keyboard and arriving at Wickedfire?

Hey, I think the fact that you actually got off your ass and tried something is going to stop you from being raped here.

Your major mistake was not doing step 7 in prosper 202. Step 7 (get links) gives you the code you should have used as your destination URL in facebook and myspace.

I know Facebook is a bitch to edit, but with myspace, someone else should confirm as I'm not American so I don't use it, but you might have an easy time of just editing the campaign and getting your step 7 link and using it as the destination.

edit: just realized I was running the old version of P202, so if someone running the newer version can confirm that step 7 is still "get links" that'd be great. Thanks!

well if your setup is like this
fb/myspace -> page 1 -> page 2(with p202 code) -> offer

which is what i'm getting from your post, then p202 will show the referer as page 1. If you put some tracking code in page 1 as well, that should help with the referers as well as give you some more info about ctr from page 1 to 2.

That's a good point because thats how I have my page set up. Any ideas on what I can do to track referrer on page one? I can't think of anything except to split the campaigns into mslp.site.com and fblp.site.com

Why not get the referrer in PHP on page 1 and redirect accordingly?

So something like give Myspace site.com/link1.php and Facebook site.com/link2.php and have link1.php and link2.php both redirect to lp.site.com

And then put tracking on both php pages to differentiate the referrers, correct?

Yup it's stills step 7, and if you missed that, that's the reason no data is tracking...

Got Google Analytics on the LP? Or Mint? or anything else? Do that. That'll work. Or I suggest editing and re-submitting the campaign before you take down the old one(s).

Just get the referer in php and redirect to your new links based on either myspace.com or optserve.com in the referer.
