I had some trouble a few weeks ago with malware finding its way on to my computer (thanks, StumbleUpon).... so I went a bit overboard and loaded my laptop up with all the latest and greatest defensive software.

"WTF does this have to do with Affiliate Marketing?" you ask, right? Well, one of the software programs was Spybot, which I ran, and which "innoculated" my pc from various nasties. One of those nasties? Cookies from Azoogle.

Fast-forward to today when I'm trying to log into Azoogle for the first time with no luck. I play the password game with them and they send me the standard you're-an-idiot letter. I then do some research and some thinking and find the problem: Azoogle.com in the "do not accept cookies from here" list of Firefox.

Now, I don't profess to be an expert on the technical intricacies of how Affiliate tracking works (although I should probably look into this), I do have a fair bit of concern that anti-malware programs are blacklisting the affiliate network I'm about to start using to generate my billions and billions of dollars. If enough cyber-hypocondriacs get to innoculating their PCs, and my affiliate network cannot set the necessary tracking cookies when they click my links, this might have a negative impact on my disgusting fortune, no? Thoughts? Am I worrying about nothing here?

Just because you couldn't login to Azoogle doesn't mean the world is coming to an end. Reset your browser to accept cookies from AZ and drive on. Your customers don't have time to stumble so worrying about them getting malware and downloading spybot is futile. That whole scenario is uniquely yours.

BTW, please state your problem in the subject line and stop wasting ppl's time about your nonexistent disconcerting discovery. :glowingeyes_sml:

It's called a tracking cookie. Not really a new concept.

Anti-spyware software removes them. It's annoying. Life goes on.

Agreed... that particular scenario is uniquely mine. However, if it is becoming common practice for anti-virus software to "innoculate" browsers against affiliate tracking cookies, I don't think that will be uniquely my problem.

...please state your problem in the subject line and stop wasting ppl's time...

Apologies for the poorly-worded title. I am unable to edit it now.

Right back at ya :xmas-smiley-016:

It's not the removal of them I'm concerned about... it's the blocking of them during the click...

Pretty valid point, thanks for putting it out there. Azoogle, in particular, was most likely listed because they do (or at least used to) a ton of the volume with webfetti and other similar download offers.

Most anti-spywares clear cookies as a standard part of the scanning process. </sarcasm>

Obviously it's not something rational like that. It's a conspiracy started by Mozilla, Azoogle, and SpyBot - and everyone is in on it except you. Look out your window, do you see the black car?

The problem for him was not that the tracking cookies were deleted. The problem was that Firefox and IE were set to not ALLOW cookies from Azoogle. Spybot and the Microsoft Onecare do this for both Azoogle and for Linkshare (take note).

This means that any person who ran spybot search and destroy will NOT allow tracking cookies from Azoogle or Linkshare, which in turn means YOU will not be credited if that person performs a commissionable action via your Linkshare/Azoogle link.

Ahhhh....I am having this EXACT same problem logging into my Azoogle account. I haven't been able to log-in for three or four days.

Azoogle is also giving me the 'idiot' treatment.

So how do we get around this?

In Firefox: Tools->Options->Privacy->Exceptions->find desired site in list and delete.

Enjoy :xmas-smiley-016:

i've had this problem for 2 years with Azoogle...i usually cannot login from my desktop though my laptop usually is fine. i read about the spyware blocking and discussed it with Azoogle and they said that should not be the issue. and FYI this problem for me started with IE not firefox. who knows what it is....all i know is that because of this i almost never log into Azoogle to check for new offers as i can't get in their system!

Well, I just told you how to... so now you can. Go, login, find a killer offer, and make some BANK :pimp:
