On a beach somewhere :)
Hey Guys

I was hoping someone could recommend a good media buy agency.

I was recently contacted by cpmadvisors.com to see if i am interested in doing a media buy with them. But im a little hesitant.
The problem with most of these companies is that they require a minimum of $5,000 to test an offer. That seems like a ton of money just to run a test. Theres so many out there as well, so its tough to decide which one to use (especially when your new to media buying).

Any advice on how to avoid getting burned with media buys?

Thanks in advance

Most good media buys that I have encountered will require at least a minimum of 5k. The price tag keeps noobs away and this is a good thing.

How about you go on to Google, and search good media buying companies yourself. If you are gonna do media buys, don't expect people to hand over their successful advertising connections. Go research it for your self, send out emails, get click costs and get the information yourself. If you had even contacted the company to ask for information you would have all your questions answered.

Sick and tired of people posting information here that can be answered with a simple email or a simple search!

The reason why the have $5k mins is to keep noobs like you out of doing it!

You may want to test out you offer first on Google Content Network and then from there find a media buying agency that can land you better deals on these choice placements or find networks that have placements that you are looking for. It's a good idea to go in knowing what you are looking for and letting them use their connections to get you a better CPM. They want the $5k because network minimums are usually $5k for smaller networks and upwards of $25k for the larger ones.

Thank you for an actual answer.

To all those others who posted, if you don't have genuine advice to give...MOVE ON to another post....don't post some bullshit response...

Anyone ever try just buying cheap monthly banners on relevant blogs? I haven't yet moved over to subscription advertising but i know a lot of targeted, high traffic blogs, offer very cheap monthly rates.

Media buying is for the big boys. You'll lose lots of money very quickly if you don't know what you're doing. Also, a lot of the ad network employees are amateurs when it comes to running direct response campaigns. They're used to the "brand" advertisers that just want to get their name/website out there and have no specific ROI goals to meet.

I agree with this statement. They are used to branding NOT DR!

Good points. The problem with big media buys is that you have to rely on the rep. and the Right Media server for optimization. The networks back end is just about fully blind to us and we don't get to see what channels are converting and when.

A big media buy and an inexperienced rep (almost all are) will get you a 50% ROI on a good day.

These pricks need to work on their DR game since that's all they have right now. Corporate ad spend has just about dried up so these guys better catch on to our needs quickly.
