A guy I know owns his own business, and he had a kid throw together an osCommerce store for him. I'm going to get a decent template and start promoting the store on Facebook, but is there a way to track conversions?
Do I just put the T202 pixel on one of the osCommerce pages?

What page do I put it on though? The thank you/confirmation page? And wouldn't that just tell me if a customer bought something; it's not like it would tell me what they bought or how much they spent, right?

You would put it on the checkout page right after the purchase is complete/verified/thankyou, whatever.

As far as what they purchased you could tell that by cross-referencing the users IP with the stores logs.

you can get google analytics if its your friend, then you can track back what they bought....not necessarily with prosper though

Well he said he's already selling a few products each day from the store, so if I use Analytics I won't be able to tell who is buying from Facebook and who is buying from othe,r traffic sources, right? Or am I supposed to use prosper and analytics both?

I've never actually used osCommerce before, so I need to find out if I can track purchases by IP. I still have to get the admin username and password.

I'd use Stuffed Tracker for this, you can set it up to tell you that info.

The javascript pixel has input fields were you can enter what the product was, its cost etc. And it will track keywords, show you the user path from landing page to sale (cookie based and ip), give you reports by referring site etc.

It would show who's come from facebook, what ad they clicked, what the conversion rate is on that ad blah blah blah

The Russians made. It has KGB-like powers.

Definitely need something free, as I'm just doing this to build my portfolio. I probably won't be getting paid (unless I can really push some products for him, which would be nice).

theres a section in the admin panel where u can specify additional recipients to cc the customer orders to.

Google Analytic with conversion tracking. You could simply add dynamic value to pixel at the pixel, easy. For traffic sources, simply check referrer.

you can tag the analytics links so you know the source.

i know you dont have a choice at this point, but a warning to anyone running oscommerce: it's an exploitable piece of shit. switch platforms before it's too late.
