so I get home and there's a box at my doorstep with my address on it, but it doesn't belong to anyone I know. The address has an APT # (I live in a house), and I'm sure it was 1 digit off from a building across the street.

I can't give the box back (legal reasons) so I waited for the ups man to come by. 3 days later he stopped by w/ a box for the same person. Same sender. This time he asked if I knew who the recipient is. I said no and he left. I totally forgot about the box I had like .. 2 feet from him. Anyway, I figure she got a replacement? might be just another shipment.

I found out the box is from Cigarbid (cigar auction site). I'd like to open it, but I'm wondering what happens in the delivery system now.. ? what if she has insurance on it, or doesn't? etc. Its been about a week now.

Mhmm hand deliver the box to the person. Be good.

(or, just open the fucking thing and smoke some cigars. fuck ya!)

if you were really worried about it, why not just walk across the street and deliver it to where you think it should have gone? or just have ups return it to the sender?

my advice:
STFU and enjoy your free cigars...

I think you should post it on a public forum...

I really don't give a shit about the cigars nor the package. The post was more of an anecdote that was related to a general question I had of, what happens if I keep the person's package?

I'm not gonna walk over and give her the package because then I would be responsible for it (i.e., if it's - theoretically - an explosive). That's how I justify my laziness at least :xmas-smiley-016:

I believe it's a felony to open someones mail, I'm certainly no lawyer.

That's only with USPS mail.

UPS/FedEx/DHL drivers are usually in a hurry and don't fuck around long enough to see if they're at the right place. I had one drop a neighbor's package once, so I took it over to them. They hit my doorbell and by the time I opened the door, they were in the truck rolling. About a week later they did it again, so I took it over there again.

Last week, my neighbor came over with a package for me. They dropped my package over there, so keep that in mind if you decide to keep theirs. Things have a way of coming full circle.

How big a fuck do you have to be to not walk across and give them the package? Your just making up excuses because you'd just rather keep it for yourself - like a shady fuck would.

If someone dropped one of your packages off at the wrong place, you'd want the same thing done for you. I hardly see the inconvenience. Chicken Fuck.

Haha Rage9.

Really -- just hand over the fuckin' package. Karma man, karma.

WTF?

No, you would not be fucking responsible, even if there was an explosive or *gasp* Anthrax spores in that.

Beause you did not fucking pack or mail that package.
You just brought it over like any good neighbour would.

I always do this for neighbours, and they do for me.

Alternate option:
1-800-pick-ups. Wait for voice prompt. Press '0'. Wait for voice prompt. Press '0' again. Tell the nice CSR what you told us, and that you would like to "Refuse the delivery." They'll send a driver for pickup, and it will go back to the sender.

Just get a paper bag full of dog shit and light it on fire, place it at neighbors doorstep and ring doorbell...

... oh and put their package off to the side, so they see it once they stop stomping out the dog shit.
