Moving from Canada to the US

I believe you need to have some sort of work visa to move here. However there are certain exemptions like if you are a talented musician or actor or of that sort

Tons to do in LA, you can a decent 1 bedroom for $1200 in the heart of it but a really nice place will cost you closer to $2k. Sounds like you're not looking for anything extravagant though. $1200 - 1500 / mo to be within walking distance of food, entertainment, etc isn't bad.

San Diego is also great. A little cheaper than LA, right on the beach and lots to do.

North bay area for the win...

I live in Sonoma County, 40 minutes north of San Fran - Warmer weather, cheaper then SF, still easily within driving distance of the city, has world class wineries (if your into that sort of thing), coast is 30 minutes away, etc.

I used to live in Canada (45 minutes east of Vancouver, BC) and moved to LA area about 5 years ago. Groceries are similar in price, rent is probably going to be more than $1,000 to $1,200 depending where you want to live (if coast-line). Cell phones are a lot cheaper. Taxes are less.
If you don't mind, where in the valley?

Come to Detroit. I've been buying houses for $10k - $20k for the last few weeks. Bring a gun though...
Haha! So funny! :music06:

New York has the world's greatest pizza, and the community of artists (graphic, etc.) and advertising people is probably the biggest in the country. There are some moderately priced neighborhoods of quality I could refer you to if you're interested. Almost all of them are in the outer boroughs.
