Fuckin Devils Blow It!

I feel for you Jon. At least my team (the Rangers) were clearly the lesser team in their series and deserved to lose. The Devils just blew it. I was rooting for a Rangers/Devils final so I was rooting for your team until my team blew it.

As someone else said, they need help for Brodeur. Same story with the Rangers. It's all Lunqvist and nothing else. By the way, do you want Gomez back? We'll trade him for some cold hotdogs from last night's game.

The Wings are a well oiled killing machine right now. Detroit/Anaheim will be a lot of fun to watch. I expect it to get very physical.

Blasphemy woman.

They got rid of Burke 5 frickin years ago. That's old news. How could they have gone anymore downhill than the Burke and Crawford years anyway?

They missed the playoffs in 2000, were blown out in the first round in 2001, blown out in the first round in 2002, blew a 3-1 series lead in the second round in 2003, lost in the first round in 2004... etc. A pretty bleak record to say the least.

I don't think Burke was all that great.

'Nucks all the way!
The problem the Canucks had at the time was Cloutier. He couldn't play a playoff game to save his life and that was a lot of it.

Brian Burke got Anaheim the cup a couple years after leaving Vancouver.

Anyways, it is water under the bridge, I'm just bitter that most of the old Canucks are all gone now. I like Taylor Pyatt, it really sucks about his fiancee dying. We don't really get any Canucks games here in Australia, Fox Sports only has the rights to the American games, and they tend to only show eastern conference games. Hopefully since Chigago is far enough east, they'll show some of those though!

I'm pretty sure Comcast SportsNet has rights to Blackhawks games, so doubt you'll get to see any on Fox Sports.

I miss the ESPN days. Vs. blows big time.

For €34.99 you can get the playoff package for all the games streaming live on ESPN 360 here in Europe (it was a Fox feed for the first series). The quality is pretty good, but can be a bit headache inducing sometimes. Gotta stay up late to watch em though, but I'm usually up anyways. I caught 2 of the first 4 games this way. https://europe.espn360.com/ Dunno if it's available in Aus or not but might be worth checking it or other services like it.

There's also always GameCenter Online from nhl.com. So while Vs. was blowing their load on Sid and Alex constantly I could watch decent games.

Jersey needs some help for Brodeur, they have an amazing goal-tender but the rest of the team is so-so..

The rest of the team is good, you could have seen that during the regular season when clemmenson was in net...averaging 4-5 goals a game...once brodeur came back they averaged 2-3...i think that the devils do not "try" as hard when brodeur is in net because they know he will always bail them out...something needs to be done...unfortunatley it looks like sutter will be finding a new job in the near future...2 years in a row out in first round...

and for the rest of the 2009 playoffs...i'm siding with the ducks on the west, and the capitals on the east...

Yeah, fucking close one!

3 goal lead, too, which is pretty harsh, but they hung on!! One down, 3 to go.

Nucks are just a better team than Chicago, plain and simple. Canucks got grit, scoring power, a decent defense, and a stellar goaltender. The only thing Canucks don't have are shitkickers to keep the other teams in check, but definitely still cup contenders.

I don't think that the canucks are really that close to chicago in terms of skill. The vancouver luongos are an amazing team, but if they don't show up the canucks are done. To rely so heavily on one player will spell disaster for them. If one of chicago's main scorers don't show up then one or two of the others ones will. Havlat, Toews, Sharpe, and Kane are all speedy and with the exception of Havlat younger players with lots of energry.

Compare that to the two crypt keepers that are Demitra and Sundin who are the only backup scorers to the Sedin sisters....

The series for Canucks rest on Luongo, while Blackhawks have so many different options...

The Canucks do have skill, a fair bit of it, but it's young skill. I think less than 50% of the lineup has been in the playoffs before (but I may be wrong on that point), but at least the ones that have are the Canucks vets that have at least played 3-4 seasons in the playoffs.

The Sedins are good players. They'll never be superstars but they're pretty consistently solid. I'm not a fan of Sundin, but he does score. The Canucks are good, they're just very young. They do rely on Luongo quite a bit, but they're not completely sunk without him. I do think they need him to go all the way, but not necessarily to beat Chicago.

If they do make the finals and are in a position to win they should sign Linden again for one game just so he gets to carry the cup.
