I don't do online stores. I spent yesterday afternoon fixing one of these Yahoo stores for a friend of a friend who fucked it all up. He happily paid me for fixing his item groups, inventory tables, etc. but I told him that for what he paid me he could probably find a better solution. My first time in that environment and I think its a piece of shit.

Anybody here ever have one of these stores back in ancient history? If so, what alternative solution would you recommend for a user friendly and relatively smooth transition for this guy. I'd like to help him out because we discussed a potentially interesting trade - some time at his ski condo.

Are you looking for a hosted solution or something that runs on your own server?

Doesn't matter. Although I like the idea of hosted - would mean tech support from them and less hand holding from me. There's just got to be something better than YSB. Just looking to draw from experiences here before I start Googling.

Depending on your situation, Foxy Cart may be a good solution, othwise, take a look at shopify.

+rep thanks for the recommendations. This is not my bag, but you saved me a shit ton of research with some legitimate options that appear to be well executed. I'll kick it around with him. Thanks.

magento is really a nice cart, very scalable. Just takes some time to learn the damn thing. Once you do though, it's a well thought out cart

magento is recommended for large scale ecom. coz if you're require basic ecommerce then its not applicable on your side coz magento is over written. i havent check for a month and hoping they'll do better as I really wanted to use it for my bigger projects.
