iPhone: worth it?

Isn't tracking Tracking 202 coming out with an app? For that reason alone I would get an iPhone...

Duh! But what, everyone and there mom has an iPhone or what? My friends don't and they sure as hell aren't going to pay for a data plan, so that makes AIM worthless.

You know there are some free applications you can download for text messaging that would only count as data. Atleast that is how it works with ATT.

def worth the costs.. even if you just want the current model its only $99 bucks you can't hardly buy a piece of junk sony for that much before rebates...

the new one has a faster processor and video camera plus a few other features and 3.0 for the same price as the old one.. if your gonna pay for a data package on any phone the iphone gives ya the most bang for your buck for sure..

and to answer a question from above you can only get them at AT&T corporate stores and i believe at the apple store.. wal-mart and best-buy prolly wont have the 3GS for a little while.. even if you didnt pre-order each store will have a limited supply of phones for walk ins but there will be a line for sure..

For all you iPhone owners: can you make a video with your iPhone and put it here? I want to see the quality.

Check the app store for VideoRecorder3G. I'll try to post a sample for you, but it's pretty damn good. You can direct upload to YouTube, or email it to yourself so you can do whatever you want with the .mov file.

Yeah I have one I even paid for the premium version, called textfree. It has its advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages: It runs on data and not SMS. Delivery time is really good, always instant from what I've seen.

Disadvantages: The iphone doesn't have push notification until OS 3.0 hits in a few days so I have to check for new texts via email and the shortest time is 15 min intervals. The number shown to the recipients is actually am email wich on most phones you can't enter as a contact, or at least we haven't figured it out yet. Lastly every once in a while a text to me will bounce. So it's not a total solution.

Push notification will help a lot though.
