Google Content Network - Low number of impressions?

same here. Diet rebill got hammered on GCN. CTRs were good, 17 pages indexed in G, some backlinks, all the usuals - I started a bunch of new adgroups which got impressions for a day @ $2 cpc and the traffic essentially got turned off today.

WUT TEH FCUK? Jezus H Christ. I hope their revenue tanks to the point where their shareholders pressure them into relaxing their shit. They must be hurtin.

I'm always surprised to hear comments like this. Google couldn't give a SHIT about their shareholders and anyone who holds shares in Google is either a day trader or an idiot.

Google only have shareholders as a legal requirement. Google have openly said that they will never pay a dividend. Shareholders don't necessarily make money if Google do. They ONLY make money on capital appreciation and we all know, even a rumour on a popular blog can impact that intraday.

Going to be interesting to see what happens here.

The Content Network is self-serve. Correct me if I'm thinking wrong here but aren't all the sites using adsense going to get pissy when their revenue drops due to a lack of competition? I mean, I understand Google Search wanting *quality user experience* but most of the webmasters using adsense don't really give a fuck, right?

Well a big reason why google started shutting down all these content campaigns was because of adsense users complaining in the first place. They had whole blocks of "Rule #1" type diet ads filling their adsense blocks and it was hurting their CTR and bottom lines. Go poke around on the adsense support forum and you will see tons of them comlaining proving that they do in fact "give a fuck".

Fair enough. I was assuming their CTR would be OK.

But I'm seeing dummy ads in all positions on some sites (in Australia, at least). That can't be good for business.

i had a non-cpa campaign in my niche product that suddenly lost all traffic on content network...

i tried the following and did not work to get me more traffic

- bump cpc from 3.00 to 6.00
- bump cpm on targeted sites from 6 .. to 12.. then to 20.00 cpm and nothing
- moved the campaign to a new acount .. nothing
- created a new domain .. placed content there .. and then nothing

the cycle is about 2-3 days worth of traffic when restarting and then traffic dissapears..

so day 1 = ramping up
day 2 = peak
day 3 = trending down
day 4 = traffic minimal

the thing is that my quality scores are in the 7-10 on those campaigns..

they are not rebills (diet or bizz opp) .. traffic is being driven to squeeze page

search traffic has not been affected at all .. only content..

so sitting here with my thumb up my ass trying to figure out what the deal is

I am going to try a different landing page approach and see if that changes things ( i did try a review style landing page but that only lasted 2 days)

i tk=hink google puts an automated "review" status on campaigns after they start getting traffic... wait 2-3 days, the campaign should get reviewd by somebody and start getting impressions

This thread was started a month ago...just curious, has there been any improvement for you CN guys?

WTF!?!!?! you mean you don't advertise on GCN? where do you advertise? can I see your keywords? can I haz your landing pages?!?!?onetwothree!?!

gcn impressions

GCN always owns me. Whenever I pick sites to target, I get shit for Imps.. if I let them choose sites, I get some, but even at $2+ cpc I dont get much... ie best day was 100k imps..and I usually hover at around 30k imps..

what irks me is that there are sites in my same vertical that are showing up on the content network with crappier landing pages and sites than mine but their ads are being served and i sit on the sidelines waiting for google to hopefully feel like turning on my traffic..

anybody else have any more insight into this?
