Not sure if any of you follow poker, but Phil Ivey has cracked the top 35 at the Main Event. Over 7,000 began the main event. Would be pretty awesome if he won. He's arguably the best player in the game.

Live updates out of the Rio in Vegas:

wow, was obsessed with poker 3 years ago, wasn't following this years wsop at all. ivey, what a player, and they say the main event is just luck these days.

Also rooting for Ivey...although it has become a crap shoot.

I think it would only be his second WSOP Main Event bracelet ever, although he's made the final table a bunch of times.

Phil Ivey has never won a Main Event. He has 7 bracelets, and for his 8th to be a Main Event bracelet would be sick.

Phil Hellmuth's Main Event is on life support after a crushing hand against Abraham Mourshaki. Mourshaki opened for 20,000 preflop before Hellmuth put in a curious re-raise to 36,000, just slightly more than the minimum-allowable 34,000. All other players folded back to Mourshaki, who called.

The flop came out

. Mourshaki checked to Hellmuth, then called Hellmuth's bet of 40,000. It was at that point that Hellmuth said, "This could be my last hand, ESPN."

The turn was the

The river came down

and brought a bet of 120,000 from Mourshaki. Hellmuth sat back down, though about fifteen seconds and then slid a matching call into the middle of the table. He was incredibly steamed to see Mourshaki turn over

for trip jacks. Hellmuth walked away from the table and started whinging.

"I'm gonna vomit on the floor. There goes my World Series to an absolute maniac," he said. Coming back to the table and fixing his gaze on the dealer, Hellmuth added, "You had to find jack-jack for him. You couldn't just find one jack so he could sail off?"

Hellmuth turned to Mourshaki. "Nice hand buddy. Well played. Pretty nice, huh?"

Hellmuth has only 100,000 remaining chips.
lulz. legend. can't wait to see it on espn

^^ Haha. Thanks for digging that up. Gonna be good TV. I played poker next to Hellmuth for about an hour one time. He truly is hilarious.

Any chance to watch this online? I am from Europe and no TV supports the ESPN here.

Was rooting for Peter Eastgate, too bad he busted out at 78. Nice defense of the title though

Of the remaining yes, go Ivey. Great player

It's sick that Peter Eastgate busted out 78th after taking the title last year. That means he outlasted 13,000 people spanning 2 years before busting out.

Phil Ivey is in 4th as of end-of-play last night. This is gonna be a sick WSOP season on ESPN when it finally airs.

Damn, I was rootin for Jason Alexander...

A friend of mine flew to vegas (from australia) to play in the wsop, he plays online for a living and won a seat into the tourny. He busted out pretty early... his specialty is cash games not tournaments so fair enough.
