Ok, from my time here and on other affiliate boards the same theme comes up time and time again. "It takes money to make money" & I understand this concept. With affiliate marketing though it seems it takes A LOT of money to break even.

I see and read marketers who are spending $1000-$4000 a month JUST on adwords and the return profit after their original money is made back is about $200-$500. I think I might do better going to the casino. Seems in this game its all about adwords, ppc, lead gernerating etc and that all cost money.

Can an affiliate marketer make some change (and when I say change im talking about $100-$300 per month) w/o buying all the ads and ppc? Can just simple natural traffic and promoting the site via diretories, twitter, etc do the trick?

Lets hear from some who dont spend the crazy loot but are able to still make a dime in this game.

Thanx

Yes, you definitely can. If you are good enough at writing and identify the decent sectors to promote, it should not be a problem. You don't even have to pay for any hosting, you can just use blogger.

Rgds

This is pure bullshit. Nobody makes this much from a 1-4K investment.

Yes, you can start with no money if you're creative and find different traffic sources. It's going to take longer although you'll probably make better returns if you build up a free traffic source. You basically have to find your own path in affiliate marketing and I'd advise you to try as many different things as possible.

I started out by throwing a lot of money at Facebook & search engine advertising. I made some profit but it was very short term and requires a lot of work. Now I'm starting to move back towards developing websites in certain niches and will probably start building some subscriber lists soon.

you've got to just jump in and take a risk. I'm willing to bet that the majority of the (successful) people here were not born with money. they took risks and failed. then they tried again.

learn, create a campaign and just go for it. you're already living in the top 5% of the world.. who gives a shit if things go sideways for a second?

also, it take a lot of money to get started? name one physical business where 3k can get you up and running?

you want it? just fucking take it.

dude, DNChamp, don't listen to these guys - most of them are assholes. Many people have had this question on wickedfire. This topic has been covered numerous times. In fact, we were talking about daily spend and ROI on the boards just the other day. Here is the thread without all the bullshit involved - Increase ROI on multiple campaigns

cheers

I can't come up with a good smart ass comment so I guess I'll just have to throw something serious out there.

Yes, you can make plenty of money without using any PPC methods. However, you better have some good SEO skills so you can generate some organic traffic to your site. Either that or know others with some big ass sites that can help promote yours via word of mouth. Do some research, find a niche you can compete in and that can be monetized, then build your site and promote the hell out of it. If you can get some decent SERPS you'll get traffic and hopefully start converting.

Just like most of these guys have already said, yes you have to spend it to make it. That's pretty much the norm. You wont find many main street businesses where you are able to have a legit business running 24 hours a day for less than 4 G's a month depending on the location.

So on the internet, your costs, if you really stop and think about it are quite miniscule in the grand schemes.

LOL, just thought of The 40 year old virgin.
"We buy your items and sell them on E-Bay"

But seriously, learn all of the free stuff first and get real good at it. Blogging, Articles, Social networking in general. But get good at that stuff and then once you master it, you'll probably have made a dime or two. Use that money to jump into the paid traffic arena with a great plan and get after it dude.

Remember, goals are just dreams with deadlines!

many if not most of those who are actually crushing it started without much. It's all about smartly managing risk:reward.

When I started in Acai via PPC in early June of last year I was seeing over 500% ROI for about 45 days before competition heated up. I first saw this with a $50/day test budget, and obviously extremely rapidly scaled up exponentially.

If you want to make real money without having huge money to throw into things find an unsaturated niche. Copying my LP/campaign as hundreds did months late is the fast track to pennies and losses.

Following google trends and bidding on "aicar" <google it> 90 minutes after that news was released and running an "Acai - the natural weight loss" ad as the only sponsored listing with $0.10 bids is the quick way to making $XX,XXX in 48 hours.

Innovate or die, ADAPT what others are doing and apply it to something cutting edge or new. Fast following in this space is for people that can push their way to the top with $$$ OR idiots. Mainly the latter.

Thanx for the "serious comments" joking is cool but do really thank people for their help...much to learn thats for sure

I started off with spending maybe 300-400 in ppc before getting things positive. At that point I was already making a few hundred a month from seo.

Pretty sure there are almost zero other types if businesses in the world that take this little up front captial and can scale this well.
