The Union (Weed Documentary)

playing devils advocate, do you think a single parent to a newborn should legally be allowed to either produce or consume methamphetamine in their own home?

I had to think for quite awhile but yes, I do think so. I think it's ultimately that parents responsibility for the well being of their child. Everything a parent does is going to affect the outcome of that child, be it negatively or positively. I don't agree with a lot of ways parents raise their kids anyway but it's their business and their responsibility.

I will say though that when I'm talking about this it's as an ideal, I don't necessarily think it would be the best option in a practical, real life situation. Sort of like Anarchism, I agree with many of the ideas and philosophies the various strains of Anarchism hold, but I don't think they would work in any practical sense.

drugs are worse then alcohol...
anyone who thinks otherwise needs to open there eyes and actually talk to drug addicts.

What a silly thing to say. Even completely disregarding the fact that alcohol itself is a drug, some 'drugs' are worse than alcohol and some clearly are not.

I actually know a few alcoholics and also a few people who are addicted to coke, and trust me, the alcoholics are a lot worse off.

Can't believe I am even responding to this... which drugs? Caffeine? Weed? Ecstasy? Even pure heroin is less damaging physically than alcohol.

I can think of only one commonly used drug that is more harmful than alcohol... tobacco.

Here's another very informative documentary (might make you reconsider your view)

Horizon: Is Alcohol Worse Than Ecstacy

Only prob I have with their research is the way they group coke and crack together.

Im talking about coke/crack/heroin/acid

It's just my opinion. I know a lot of drinkers and a lot of druggies.

Percentages of people who use drugs and are fucked up is a lot higher than people who drink.

oh, and sorry, but wait till your best freind tries heroin, becomes addicted, and ruins his life or OD's... then say alchohol is worse.

Its all a numbers game... percentages are higher with hard drugs

Man you are so brainwashed... alcohol is a much "harder" drug than acid.

If heroin was legally available then the chances of ODing would be so much lower, as would all the probs from the shit it's cut with... the handful of people that get prescribed it generally live normal lives. (Not having to steal to feed an addiction, no probs with impurities, knowing the strength.. no pointless methadone that just benefits pharma)

I agree it's a numbers game... and alcohol certainly causes the most social problems (and tobacco the most physical ones).

Please watch that BBC doc I linked above.

When you say 'drinkers' you're obviously not talking about alcoholics. Out of the three alcoholics I know, 1 is in prison for things he did under the influence and the other two have ruined their lives and are unable to see their kids. Does this mean alcohol is bad? No. As with any drug it's the people that use it that make it bad.

"oh, and sorry, but wait till your best freind tries heroin, becomes addicted, and ruins his life or OD's... then say alchohol is worse."

I don't get it, that could apply to alcohol as well...

I also know a hell of a lot 'druggies' who's lives aren't fucked up because of it, because they use in moderation and are responsible enough to not let it fuck up their lives.

honestly, if coke wasn't illegal. CRACK would have never became as popular as it did. It was marketed out of necessity for a cheap high.

Acid. Non addictive

Heroin yes it's bad but not worse than alcohol

Tobacco 435,0001 Poor Diet and Physical Inactivity 365,0001 Alcohol 85,000 1 Microbial Agents 75,0001 Toxic Agents 55,0001 Motor Vehicle Crashes 26,3471 Adverse Reactions to Prescription Drugs 32,0002 Suicide 30,6223 Incidents Involving Firearms 29,0001 Homicide 20,3084 Sexual Behaviors 20,0001 All Illicit Drug Use, Direct and Indirect 17,0001, 5 Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs Such As Aspirin 7,6006 Marijuana 07

Hows that look who is dying more from what?

Well the argument is that if heroin was legal that a lot more people would use it. The reason so many people die from alcohol is because of it's widespread usage.

And 0 from Marijuana is pretty BS. Where do you think the deaths from smoking cigarettes come from? Cancer. Marijuana increases your chances of getting cancer much like smoking cigarettes do. But then again, you could argue that Marijuana can be eaten rather than smoked and be completely safe :)

A lot of people in this thread are getting it all wrong though, the 'badness' of a drug is not just how many people it kills, it's about how likely it is to ruin lives and cause illness.

Oh noes, never the minus rep!

But yes, I was talking out of my ass. I've been told in the past that it's carcinogenic smoke that gives you an increased risk of lung cancer from smoking, whether that is true or not I don't know but assuming that's true it makes sense to think that inhaling carcinogenic smoke of the green kind does the same :D

I have no doubts about marijuana having anti-cancer properties, I've read about that quite a few times have been hearing it for years, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Cannabis doesn't increase your chance of getting cancer, does it?

Yea but not one study has ever shown it, so discussing it would amount to discussing god. With all the bullshit propaganda that pot gets, don't you think the government would be ALL over a study like this?

They'd have at least one thing going for their campaign against marijuana. I obviously know smoke is is not a 'normal' thing to have in your lungs. Who knows until it's studied how much we can handle, maybe the downside of smoking marijuana is so long term that you will have died from old age before it affects you, we just don't know yet.

I stopped smoking anyways, but I hate when people spread disinformation or things they heard when they were 10 years old at some cop at school scare show that has not a shred of evidence going for it.

I won't -rep you for manning up to your info, I wouldn't want you to have trouble sleeping tonight. :)

I get extremely pissed off with misinformation about weed too, I did smoke weed pretty much every day for about 3 years.. I guess it was irresponsible of me to say that without properly looking into it.

I bet this will piss you off, it's an advert from the UK trying to spread the message of weed.

Disgraceful.

The best movie on this subject hands down is the original "Reefer Madness" the government is here to help and protect us.

This movie shows you what can really happen. It's black and white and old as shit but completely true.

Please tell me you're just kidding...
