Advertising in newspaper

maybe not, narsticle, but the fact that you have earned the title "MODERATOR", and yet you greet new members to the forum, who are asking completely reasonable and legitimate questions, with such hostililty and remain a "MODERATOR" is beyond me. seriously, kid.

thanks to those who gave me some positive feedback. :usa:

i bet your ugly in real life ..

1. Write a sales letter (a good one). Copy and offer need to kick ass.
2. Record it.
3. Place classifieds or Mail Postcards promoting 800 number recorded message
4. Send people from classified or postcard to 800 number with your recording
5. Send them from the call to your lander or the offer

Make Monies Offline

I've done something like this a few times. The first 2 campaigns went pretty well, considering I'm no super-aff. The 3rd campaign bombed because I neglected to check on something very specific (and really important) about the audience I was targeting; the phone # got tens of thousands of calls, while the offer itself recorded about 16 UVs.

I guess the 3rd one was a success if you consider that I was reminded to not skip really important steps in audience research. I'm going to run another one like that with all of the research in place.

When doing this, it's important to discuss what you're doing with your AM in case your leads and traffic are clustered geographically in case the advertiser cares about that. Also, if the advertiser calls the leads, they'll find out what you're doing so you want to prepare them in advance. I've had reactions ranging from A: "why would you even do such a thing?" to B: "no problem. All you're doing is promoting your own site". Go with the network that responds with B.

I thought I'd add an interesting article I just read to this thread:

20% of U.S. Has Never Sent E-mail - Business Center - PC World

29% of US households have no computer. Lots of old folks, and those in the boonies.

This is a very large, untapped cash resource, totaling 31,000,000 homes (that's households, often with several members), virgins to Colon Cleanse and biz ops. You can't force them to buy computers, but I would really like to market to them. The tracking's the problem.

I went around Affiliate Summit bugging the networks to offer offline tracking, but didn't get an enthusiastic response. This is really a bitch.

The best solution I found was to use a different domain for each paper. Even info's work and it's not hard to find plenty of short ones for any niche. Usually less traffic to whatever you're promoting, but conversions are through the roof.

I didn't mean tracking as far as domains go, rather tracking from the network's end so we can get credited and paid. I'm trying to market to the 31,000,000 households who use no computers at all. Market Health is the only one that offers offline tracking (phone and snail), and trying to find others with a better variety of offers.

Yeah bro... you have each individual domain forward to the offer with the appropriate sub id. Or maybe I'm not understanding what you mean...

If a consumer doesn't have a computer, he/she can't buy online. That's why he's saying tracking through phone numbers or mail is necessary.

Newspaper advertising isn't one of the better ways of advertising your business. It's quite a bother to pick up the phone or move over to the computer to check out your ad. Also, these ads are often VERY expensive.

Think about the traffic you'd be getting from a particular newspaper. How targeted is your traffic?

1. Are the readers your general public who are taking the evening off & relaxing from work?
2. Does the newspaper mostly offer newsy/local happenings or business related stuff?
3. Is the paper free? Or must they buy it?

I would try internet marketing first, as it's cheaper & more targeted. Look into 1) PPC for more immediate results & 2) SEO for less expensive traffic (in the long run).
