I found a niche that I would like to get into where I stumbled onto a great dropshipper. I want to build a site using zen cart - Ah screw it. I have never built a site on a shopping cart platform, I just like the way some of the zen cart sites integrated with wordpress look.

The distributor sent me a CSV with product desc and such. There are like 12,000 items. Is there an easy way to get all those products uploaded without having to do it manually?

My csv is has a lot of useless info. It only has the prices in wholesale. It has a lot of fields that are not needed for a website. And, the pics are in a seperate csv.

Is it still possible to bulk upload? Should I hire some one to do it for me, as I have no techy knowledge, and how much should I look at paying some one?

Thanks.

As you don't know where to start - definitely hire someone.

It should cost about $20 - will only need some cleaning up of the excel and importing into zen.

Don't know if zen has a web bulk import facility, but even if it doesn't someone who know's zens database can add it to the db via command line.

Simple job for a zen head.

where did you get the $20 quote from?
you don't know what format the feed is, how clean it is,which fields it has...

I suppose you know the structure of zencart or the tools it offers to import csv files

moreover, as he said, images are on a separate file

with the few details we have it sounds almost impossible to say $20 or any other price...

I understand that people might get used to see low prices with plenty of $15 logos offers ( which are used just to get some work and build a portfolio ), but wtf I'm totally pissed off at this generalized low pricing I see everywhere

that said: I don't know if you are a programmer, just in case you are, would you take this job not knowing more details for $20 ?

@writtenstyle: expect to pay way more than $20 if the feed is not exactly the format that zencart can import
any customization or work needed to prepare the feed to be readable by zencart will cost more than $20, and yes, if what you have isn't exactly the file expected by zencart you should hire someone

sorry for the tone which might be a bit harsh but I needed to vent
