Do you think .info domains convert less?

I've heard some people say that .info domains look spammy and will drive customers away etc. My logic is that the people clicking on ads don't even know the significance of a domain and wouldn't give 2 shits if it's a .com or a .info.

Does anyone have any actual stats on this? What TLD would you buy for a PPC campaign?

people are programmed to be accustomed to .coms. so anything that isnt a .com is fishy. thats not to say a majority of the idiots getting pounded by rebills will even notice, but why sacrifice, just get a .com

I'll tell you their is defiantly a correlation between domain names and conversions IMHO. I'm not a PPC baller though and I'm sure some people would disagree or not care completely.

Split test it and find out. I've found it always to depend on what kind of offer you're promoting, what your demo is, etc... In some cases it matters, in others it doesn't.

for PPC who the fuck cares about the extension?

Every piece of the puzzle plays a bigger part than you may know.

To answer your question, yes. Domains with extensions other than ".com" do not convert as well.

Ok I do a lot of SEM and from all my testing over the past few years I can concur that the .info do get lot lesser clicks when compared to .com domains. That is I have tested over 10-15 niches with same .com and .info domains (e.g. bearpear.com and bearpear.info) and over 30,000 impressions and the .com's are always having a higher ctr. I mean .com will have 30% - 45% ctr whereas .info will have 6% to 8% ctr.

As for conversions after the click thru, we found it to be very similar for both .com and .info domains.

Also the worst niche to use .info domain names is the make money online niche. I have had instances where I had everything perfect with bids of $20 and #1 rankings on google but my ctr would suck with .info whereas with .com I will have super high ctr.
