Hey everyone. I am completely new to these forums and have just started my research on SEO and affiliate marketing after noticing the profits that a lot of users around here have reported. I'm a little skeptical and sometimes wonder if this site is just one giant, clever, "get rich quick" scheme. I work a day job as a flash developer and web designer for decent money, but I want to step it up and ultimately quit in favor of being my own boss. While I can create kick ass websites, I've never once looked into the methods of properly monetizing one. I can easily design and set up blogs which leads me to believe that this will be a good path for me to go down.

To keep things short, I have some questions for those of you who would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

Starting capital: $1-2k.
All the time in the world to dedicate.
One issue: I have horrible credit.

1. As I just stated, I have horrible credit as a result of some poor decisions I made in the past. Is this going to throw a wrench in any of this? Are there any services that I will need that do credit checks?

2. Can anyone reccommend any specific posts or other sites that will help me familiarize myself with common terms and acronyms used in the industry? Is there any specific starting points that are relevant and also recent?

3. While I'm a little hesitant to ask this, would anyone reccommend any books? I don't mind putting some cash down for a couple books at barns and noble or borders to help understand some of the basic concepts before I get started.

I have the dedication and time to do this right, I just need to know exactly what the fuck I need to get started reading.

first of all your post is way too long. secondly, you can find everything to need to learn by using the search function. i hope you realize that the people are here will most likely be competing with you and will not give you the golden goose.

i will humor you and give you some tips.

1)when you first start out you can use cash for everything. however when you want to expand bad credit may become an issue.

2) use the search function on this blog. also check out nickycakes and uberaffiliate blogs they both have sections for newbies trying to learn about this business.

3) you might want to read robert cialdini's book "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion". Its not a primer on this industry but it will give you an idea of how people are persuaded to do one thing or another which basically is what this industry is. delivering sales or delivery customer information to companies so they can be converted into customers.

Bigwave, thanks for the info. Not looking for the "golden goose", just a point in the right direction. I have been using the search function. A lot of topics are created for those who already are deeply entrenched in the industry. I'm learning though. The link to nickycakes' newb guide is useful though. Reading through it now.

What's so hilarious about what I posted, roundabout?

Nothing at all, I think everyone should go to Barnes and Noble and buy the latest guides to flogs, blogs, farticles, cloaking, media buys, ad networks, etc. for the latest developments. Maybe they have a Cliff Notes version?

When the fuck did I say I wanted to learn about the latest developments from barns and noble? I just want to learn some of the basic terminology and an abstract overview of some of the concepts involved. Thanks for contributing nothing and being a giant dick.

Roundabout, you showing off that fat cock of yours again? Save a piece of that for us god dammit.

Allow me to expand on my above post so the OP can fully understand the timeline of events leading to proof of his idiocy.

A very fair question to ask. It warrants a flame in pic form from roundabout but that is only expected.

Now Question 2 has clearly been answered.

I just want to learn some of the basic terminology and an abstract overview of some of the concepts involved. Thanks for contributing nothing and being a giant dick.

And you would have learned if you had read the link that was given to you. Your question was already answered. This is where you would stop replying and come back after memorizing the cakes' guide.

So you're not only an idiot, but an idiot with Alzheimers?

This is correct. You clearly asked if there were any books in your first post, which there aren't. Roundabout is correct to assume you are an idiot. You're lucky that you even got any real responses besides dickroll links.

That is why in my awesome post earlier in this thread, I quoted the correct link you need to be reading, then copied and pasted it 81 times so you could not possibly miss the link this time that will answer most of your questions (or could you)?

dude...
1. join a smaller network that would actually guide you
2. pick a low payout but high converting offer (or any offer that does well on facebookads)
3. spend 50-200 bucks on facebook to "test" it out. [as in testing out the creatives; you should have an idea of what demo converts].
4. PROFIT
