business movies

2 Must see's for internet marketers: 1.) Pirates of the Silicon Valley and 2.) Startup.com

Yeah I liked Startup.Com too, it's a pretty interesting documentary. Basically in the 90's these two guys start a web company that allows people to pay parking tickets online, and get big investments. The company goes to shit, etc.

Here's the trailer: http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK//video/screenplay/vi310771993/

I wouldn't try and get any friends to watch it, they probably won't like it.

About Glengarry Glen Ross:
I just thought the plot was really thin, I was all pumped up for Alec Baldwin's character and his only part in the movie was his sales speech. Maybe the plot was funky because it was adapted from a Play? And the end really irritated me, I watched it like a year ago so I can't quite remember why, but the ending was disappointing. It felt like 2 hours of conversation like in Pulp Fiction, but the conversation wasn't interesting at all.

Up in the air ... for something new. All those getting fired....turn to IM!!... or so i kept thinking.

My buddy talked about and quoted Glengarry nonstop so I tried to watch it two nights in a row and fell asleep within a half hour both times. Who the fuck wants to watch a movie about mediocre guys on hard times trying to sell time shares to people who have already told them to stop calling several times? How depressing. I would rather watch that animal abuse commercial on a loop for 2 hours.

On a more serious note:

Babysitters Club
Bikini Carwash and Bikini Carwash 2
Pretty Woman
UHF

Along the same lines as Startup.com .. but without the principals being such whiney pussies

Any Given Sunday, The Insider, The Devil's Advocate, In Good Company, Swimming with Sharks, The Big Kahuna, Boogie Nights, Gung Ho, Casino

and all 5 seasons of The Wire, so freaking much to learn

I just watched Beer Wars. Pretty good flick. It gets into distribution problems that regional and local breweries have. If you like beer its definitely recommended.

Just watched it too after seeing this thread (it's available for streaming from Netflix) I have to agree it's a good flick if you like documentaries.

I also watched Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices (also on Netflix streaming) the other day. Pretty good but loaded with populist anger towards Wal-Mart (make up your own mind on that.)

You are wrong on so many level but wtf do I know. Glengarry was an iconic piece and Boiler Room was a cheap knock-off.
