Canada vs USA Hockey Time

O'rly?

Olympic medal table - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The convention used by the IOC is to sort by the number of gold medals the athletes from a country have earned. In the event of a tie in the number of gold medals, the number of silver medals is taken into consideration, and then the number of bronze medals. If two countries have an equal number of gold, silver, and bronze medals, they are ordered in the table alphabetically by their IOC country code."

"As the IOC does not consider its sorting of nations to be an official ranking system, various methods of ranking nations are used."

"The gold first ranking system described above is used by most of the world media, as well as the IOC. However, in the United States it is more common to publish medal tables ordered by the total number of medals won, although the gold first ranking has been used on occasion, including in the official report of the 2002 Winter Olympics, the most recent Games held in the United States."

They lost to China in gold medals during 2008 so they have to start using overall medal count. That is the only way they can justify sending that many athletes and not win the most gold.

Sorry, what was that Canada?

Oh you guys didn't make it into the World Cup?

oh im sorry better luck next time.

Great game, very intense to watch. GG Canada on the win.

Oh, and a big LOL at the Americans having a cry in this thread. Looks like the same people who were gloating and smack talking when USA beat Canada in a game that turned out not to mean much. Retards.

of course we don't give a fuck about soccer yet we still qualified ohhhh burnnn.

How can so many Americans be so butt hurt over a sport we didn't give two shits a fuck about before the Olympics? It was a great game, we lost, move on brahs.

I think some people forget we still got silver out of that bitch, which is more than all those other teams that did worse can say.

this is actually very true. out of all the professional sports in america, hockey and bowling are the least watched. not sayin bowling is a sport but its time to move on.

U.S. team is half decent in U.S. but as soon as we're talking about international soccer, they don't come close. North American soccer is a joke actually.

Ya congrats on you guys making it to the World Cup. I bet you don't make it out the first round but say you won because you had the most goals scored against.

i'm just here to say ...
FUCKEN EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^ This.

I say congrats to Canada. It means way more to their country as a whole. Pretty much no one here cares. Hockey is slowly dying in this country.

From the 2 minutes of hockey news I watched this year it was my understanding that the US team winning silver was still pretty impressive. Good for them too, I still don't give a fuck.

Not a fan of Hockey. Being from Detroit, I would gladly give up all 4 of the Stanley Cups the Red Wings have won in the last 12 years just for one playoff win by The Lions. So congrats Canada on winning the gold in a game you invented but can't seem to ever win during the playoffs. No Stanley Cups in Canada since 1992? Holy fuck would I be embarrased. Now I guess I see why you guys are so geeked about splitting with the US team 1-1 in the olympics.

I could be wrong but I believe most good Canadian players play for US teams.

That's because very few kids in the US play hockey growing up. Most of the country only cares about Football, Baseball and Basketball in that order. You do see kids from the midwest playing but that's about it. There just isn't a lot of interest in the sport. That's not to knock hockey, it's just not a very popular sport in most of the US.

But as a disinterested observer I must say, Ovechkin > Crosby

it's just not a very popular sport in most of the US.

Fuck the crap you guys spew... if it wasn't popular, there wouldn't be 24 teams from your country. Sure, football is more popular, but hockey attendance eclipses it and is right on par with that of the NBA, which isn't too dissimilar for numbers of games played and seating capacity. It's not an unpopular sport by a long shot.
