This chick is a badass!!!

she is indeed the infamous daredevil that has adorned the world’s trains and walls over the last 10 years

Read: She goes and spray's her stupid shitty logo on other people personal property without their consent. Cut off her thumbs. How this is considered art is beyond me. I wouldn't care if it wasn't for the underserved and idiotic sense of entitlelment that most taggers have. "Well, I may not own this here wall/train car/subway/billboard/rock/truck, but I'm going to act like I do and deface the fuck out of it."

to each is own bra!

it's a culture that ya some people disagree with... not saying what she did is right... but if you understood the culture and the point of it you may gain some respect for it... but I highly doubt that by your comment (seemed a bit closed minded) IMO

Close minded? She is either defacing property that doesn't belong to her or she isn't. I don't see how that can be an open/close mind kind of thing. It's illegal, it cost thousands of dollars for the owners to remove, and it's a huge hassle. Culture? LOL, The culture of illegal activities, the culture of destroying other people's property? We are supposed to somehow be sympathetic and GAIN RESPECT towards that? Seriously?

Well, it looks like assumptions are to be had by all. My brother in law was real big into the scene. Did time for it twice. I knew him back then, before my wife and I became romantically involved. I've been around it, seen it take place right before my eyes, and have seen the ramifications of this so called art form. Now I will be the first to admit that my BIL has some real talent. He is damn fucking good. I've been through the stacks and stacks of his drawings. I've seen the tattoos that he's made for people...tattoos he's done to himself (yes, took the needle gun and tattooed his own hand - I watched). He expressed an interest to get into graphic design, but knew nothing about computers, so I bought him one. And 3 months later, the stuff he's pumping out is promising to say the least.

What am I failing to understand? What part of defacing another persons property is acceptable? I can certainly appreciate SOME taggers and their talent. No question. I will however, never appreciated the sense of entitlement. When a person goes around painting the same cartoonish logo on other peoples shit, how is that art? By the same mentality, I can make up some ubercool name like, I don't know, Kansas. Go around spray painting "Kansas" on peoples cars and garage doors, and that would be perfectly acceptable in this "cultures" eyes. Please tell me "the point of it."

You do realize of course that there's a huge difference between a "tagger" and a graffiti artist right? From my point of view one lacks artistic skill and simply defaces public property for no more than the thrill of saying "I wuz here" while the other brings color and often humor into an otherwise drab world. I agree that there's a place for everything, and marking up homes, businesses and historical treasures isn't it.

After visiting Barcelona I really gained an appreciation for what appears to be a well self policed graffiti scene. Fantastically complicated murals adorn back alley walls and park walls. Store front shutters are also painted but you don't see these during the day. It's only after closing when all the shutters are drawn that the city comes alive in a riot of color.

I certainly do realize that. I've met many from both camps. But somehow I don't think the girl in question belongs to the Artistic ones as evident from the photos on the OP's website. Train Cars and Apartments are all I see tagged. I've seen many instances in which you speak of, and more often than not, felt that it was an improvement to the city. To see murals and story's told on what would otherwise be a boring drab wall is a refreshing and interesting way to brighten up an urban environment. As long as the person who owns the object the paint is sprayed on agrees to it I could care less.

How is this shit talent. She spray paints the same fucking thing over and over on shit. Might as well be a template. I got fucking pieces of cardboard with designs cut out of them as talented as her.

It's not about talent, it's about getting your name up. Needing to justify it as the result of talent or condemn it by saying there is no talent involved is just a way for an outsider to cope with a strange idea (like someone writing on walls as art or self-expression). So kingfish, what if we agree that she is completely untalented, it doesn't really change anything except perhaps make her even more "badass", yeah? I mean she wasn't looking for anyone's validation to begin with. Ok that's all. :)
