New Tracking System

Hey good tracking system but I find 2 things which would be against the TOS of facebook

#1 You would need to save the username and password of Facebook to automate it via cron job

#2 You would be scraping the data after logging in.

I think facebook wouldn't like either of this.

@autmatica, watch out for everybody asking for everything under the sun and you never getting around to releasing it. Feature creep is a bitch

Yea feature creep is not good. I have a list of core stuff I want to have done for the Beta release and thats it.

The main thing is finalizing a solid framework. Once I (or anyone else) starts writing plugins, if I change any part of the framework it will break things.

I looked over the terms a while back and I don't see how it violates #1 since people are storing their own data. However I do see how it could violate #2. If I'm contacted by anyone at fb I'll work to get it compliant.

As far as getting the release out: I've been making some good progress, after seeing all the positive responses I've been motivated to move even faster. I'll keep you all updated

Your browser also stores your username and password.

The big issue is likly (for those who actually care) that automated submissions are FORBIDDEN.

Great stuff. If you want to keep this free, but still monetize, maybe charge traffic sources for a plugin for them specifically? It gets people using the traffic source more so it benefits them (this would work better for PPV networks).

I like this idea. Make the framework really really good and then you can charge for plugins. I'd still want the plugins to be unencrypted so I knew what was going on but I think it'd be less likely people would pirate plugins vs if it was just a single app. You could also do some remote call for a license file and then it only gets pirated if someone actually cracks and releases it.

At the same time, if you get widespread adoption of this, you will be able to monetize via ads in the platform and the list you build. Thats the way I would go, AM is a very profitable niche to have eyeballs in since we all spend lots and lots of money.

That's a really good idea, I might do something like this. Thanks

Any updates? Hope this won't disappear like a certain other announced tracking system around here.

Still working the kinks out. I made a list of things I wanted done before I do a beta release and I've just been chipping away at it.

I decided to put off day parting until later, and instead make it its own separate plugin. Other than that, everything is going as planned for release before the end of the month.

<- will gladly pay for a good geo parting plugin at some point.

You know everyone, it dawned on me that this tracking system conundrum we're in is quite an anomaly. I mean seriously, we, as a group are some of the most bleeding-edge internet geeks in existence and with the recent disparaging news/reviews regarding P202 1.5 it seems crazy that there aren't a shitload of choices out there for self hosted tracking systems especially given the relative high level of LAMP expertise.
