also note for comcast they include "speed burst" or whatever so the first minute or so of large files gets extra available bandwidth on the node, the real speeds are around 10mbps for sustained
 
Geez! The fastest available here is 10mb, and I've got the 8mb package, which after all the taxes & fees, is $61 per month. It's another $10/month to get the 10mb package, figured it wasn't worth it for just a 2mb increase. Now if it was an upgrade to 15-20mb I might think about it.

run a hacked firmware and be in the right area and you can get 50/50 with comcast for $0.00 a month ;)

Unless you're on a business config. then it's steady, and the "speed burst" never goes down.

Going with a business account gives you a lot of weight when complaining. If you want it to be fast, and be able to get results - go business. Their operators are trained to blow internet workers off if they're trying to get away with residential rates.

Some areas only charge $20 or $30 more per month for business plans.
