I have been reading a bunch of stuff on how to properly do this, and not get a horrible quality score, but I want to make sure this is not outdated.

As long as the advertiser lets you, you can use their url for the display url, and then use your tracking url as the destination url because it actually goes to the advertisers url. And as long as the advertiser has a well built out site you should get a decent quality score. Does that make sense, and is that correct?

The problem is that if the advertiser is also running ads on Adwords (which they probably are), since you don't have a domain name because your DL ing, it's not going to let you run another campaign using their display domain.

I tried direct linking last night and couldnt get a destination url that worked. I tried everything, but they all failed.

I set up a campaign direct linking last night, and this technique seems to be working for right now. My ads are definitely showing, and as of right now I have a QS of 7/10, I am interested to see if that holds up. Hopefully it will. I created 2 ad copy's one said approved immediately and the other said pending review. When I checked it this morning the one that was pending now says approved, so I would think that is a good sign. Just FYI this is a CPS campaign for a specific brand of watches, I'm not sure if that really has any effect on anything, but I don't think it is something google would have a problem with like email submits or something.

^^^ I just tried it again, and all my ads were disapproved because of destination url.

That sucks

Hey mikeaff2009,
I, too wanted to try direct linking on adwords, however, I always get poor quality score like 10 minutes later they got approved. It's weird, adwords approved my ads but give really low score like 1/10 and 2/10. I tried couple of different niches, and they all ended up the same. I use ClickBank, I am not sure that's why. Does anyone have any clue?

I am just wondering what affiliate network are you using?
Thanks,

I was using a merchant from shareasale that had a fully built out ecommerce site, and my QS stayed at 7/10 for just about all my kw's for the whole time I had it running(which was about a week). I also set up a leadgen campaign from Azoogle, and my QS's were horrible, because the landing page was basically just a sign up form. I think if you are going to direct link in adwords you really need to pick an offer with a fully built out site with lots pages and content. Although I could be wrong because I really dont have a lot of experience doing it, but that is what happened to me.

You can if you outbid the advertiser.

what about on international content? I was trying to direct link an offer like rappelz or aika which have landers for each country so i bought a domain along the lines of gamesonline.com (just a generic gaming url) and had the domain forward to the lander. I got through some campaigns like this and others were disapproved because the display url did not match the final url (i.e. i wrote gamesonline.com as the display url but the final url the use would land on is like rappelz.de)

is the best option for this then to just use a display url like rappelz.de, use my domain to forward and hope the advertiser isnt using that domain?

i-frame the detination url... g daddy has this option for new domains bought through them.. i've used it on a past campaign... but if your domain source doesnt have that option.. instead of just forwarding setup a page that displays the vendors page in an iframe... a google search will give you lots of tutorials on how to do it.

yes and no.... you are masking the domain because showing the vendor site in an iframe will keep your www blahblahdomain com in the location bar at all times... but if you make the destination url go through your tracking link or a redirect page with tracking setup you should be able to keep track of hits and what not... the major disadvantage would be that you are unable to put tracking scripts on the vendors site without permission.

Please do not listen to this douchebags advice.

He right..... I see the error of my ways. Stupid nub mistake.

A lil technical knowledge can spark some creativity sometimes, but sometimes this creativity although good intent.... is just fucking dumb.

Be *very* careful direct linking on Adwords. I experimented direct linking to legit (no rebills, nothing sketchy) Clickbank offers. Many affiliate offers are actually Adwords banned already (due to affiliate abuse usually), so your ads won't run. I didn't realize this, so I submitted a few campaigns which I later learned were already Adwords banned. BAM. My account is permabanned. I asked to be unbanned and since I had submitted a few campaigns on banned domains, they said it was irreversible.

Pretty hard to make a go of AM without Adwords. Fucking sucks /wrists
