A ? for College Graduates...

I did computer science and math double degree. I like the computer science but I now wish I hadn't gotten the math and had gotten a second degree in business focus on entrepreneurship. Of course back then I had no idea I loved business so.

So anyway I'd suggest probably business is a good thing to study and computer science is fun if you enjoy that sort of stuff.

Aww as someone that also has a BS in math it's sad to hear you say that.

You would have learned nothing useful in a business degree, just how everyone else does business for the most part which IMHO just ham strings creativity if you aren't going to be an office drone.

A math degree isn't about learning math you will never use. It's about learning to approach and solve problems correctly and creatively, tying up all lose ends into a neat little proof.

Just the concept of being able to approach a problem and thinking "How can I completely prove this is true?" and then doing it is a realm of thinking far beyond anything most people can ever do.

would take math over business any day, to bad im to stupid to do the maths :(

I have a math degree. The only thing I'm technically qualified to do is be a math teacher.. If I went to teacher's college.

That being said, I took math because I find it fun above all else.. I definitely would not recommend math to anyone who doesn't like math for the sheer fun of it.

undergrad business degrees are worthless imo

Who gets hired right out of college these days, when a degree and whopper loans look more like a ball and chain?
Pretty much everyone doing Computer Science at UC Irvine. Oh and +1 on undergrad business being useless.

I just spent $25,000 last year my freshman year. Fun as shit, was it worth $25,000 for the knowledge? Fuck no, it gave me a bunch of frustration though and time I can't get back.

Appreciate the responses, WF.

Looks like I'll be going with Barman's approach - get my feet wet and if I don't like it... I'll drop out.

I'd decide once you get there.

Lots of stuff you can learn in college is applicable to business, you just have to learn to make it more applied -- isn't always obvious.

Some people made fun of me for getting an English degree, but I spend half my fucking life writing quick copy or email. So I think it was useful, though not in any way I would have guessed at 18.

Psychology, Math, Statistics, Economics -- wish I had taken more of those basics, those are useful in marketing.

Fuck these clowns :D Your university degree might be useless (I've got one in Management) but fuck, those are years of your life you'll never have back, experiences you can't have anywhere else. I wouldn't trade my memories for any amount of money.

Go to school, take whatever you love learning about. Business, CS, science, art whatever. Fuck around, learn shit, live life.

Your an idiot if you don't go to college. It offers the best times and most women, that's for sure. I was an economics major and recently changed to business; probably gonna go for accounting, but that doesn't really sound like something you would like doing. Go for business and do marketing or management...easy as hell.

true that.

lol I can teach myself everything that an undergrad biz major does, and have. I have a degree in physics, with a minor in compsci, and now will be also getting an MBA - without ever having taken a business class as an undergrad. It's worthless and you can learn it on your own to have a bachelors in business.

OP, get a degree in math, physics, computer science/engineering and minor in business if you really insist.

cmon papa don't be so harsh lol.

But the bottom line is, a degree is a degree. In today's society you have no chance of getting a <decent> corporate job (god forbid) if you don't have a degree - business or other.
