I figured this wouldn't get seen in the "BETA SECTION" SB thread, so it's posted here since I know there's some server config guru's lurking.

Anyway, could someone help me with some info on installing Scrapebox on one of my dedicated servers. I know it will run a zillion times faster than on my PC, I'm just not sure how to install/configure it. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

What seems to be the officer, problem?

I'd go to Amazon, rent a "Small" windows server for ~$40/mo, remote desktop in, and run the sunovabitch.

It's a Linux server, and I haven't figured out how to remote connect to it. So can i just FTP the program to my server, and once it's uploaded, how exactly do I run it? Sorry, I know very little about server configuration.

My guess is that running with a Linux server is going to cause you all kinds of complications with emulation. I used to run Ubuntu on my desktops and a lot of these programs that are written only to be Windows executable packages don't like running in Wine or other emulators.

That said, I've never specifically tried to run SB on a Linux box. Maybe someone with experience can chime in with better info.

Since it sounds like your comfort level with server config isn't great, I'm going to guess that installing X and Wine and ASP emulation isn't going to be a real treat for ya. I would probably go with a Windows VPS at Amazon (like uplinked said) or a ForexVPS account and call it a day.

Edit: To add that if you don't get any better help feel free to PM me and I'll help as much as I can.

+1, didn't realize this was on linux, PM me or hit me up on AIM, never done this before but it sure sounds like fun... windows is still probably easier/better/cheaper

Your best bet would be VirtualBox (free) or VmWare. But course you'd have the complication of having to install Gnome or KDE desktop, then getting Virtual Box installed, but then also setting up a VNC server so that you could remote desktop into the linux server, then boot up virtual box and boot up windows inside of that. You would of course need to upload a windows ISO file in order to install it on the virtual machine (virtualization isn't the same as emulation so it should run just fine)

Course being hostgator, and you having a windows iso file on the dedicated server you may run into an issue about being slapped for piracy depending on how you've obtained the windows ISO file. It's probably easier just getting the windows dedi than linux, especially if hostgator gave you cheap hardware you're likely to crap out your resources. (I'd know I had to set up the scenario above for another client, not exactly fast)

So you think the starter package over at ForexVPS had enough juice for just running ScrapeBox and nothing else. It's not like I'll have it running 24/7 anyway, I'm just tired of how slow it runs on my PC and would like to get shit done quicker.

I run scrapebox in a vm(locally) and it runs no problem. But yeah if your going to rent a vps solely for scrapebox just get a windows box.

I completely agree with this entire statement. Windows boxes can be had for under $40 a month, and running it in a VM means you can run the slow poster and minimize the bitch when need be

Slow as in network speed, or slow as in processing? Because processing wise most server hardware unless you paying the good bucks is going to be same if not inferior to a modern desktop system terms of processing.

I just see all of these vid's of people doing scrapebox tutorials, and they're just screaming through harvests and PR checks at lightening speed. I have a fast PC with a decent DSL line and it's no where near as quick. I assume they're all running it on a server with kick ass network speed. I get sick of waiting 25 minutes to harvest 500 url's.

Few questions for you here. Have you looked at the timeout and thread settings (settings->timeout settings/maximum connections) and if your using xp have you applied the patch that removes limit of 10 outbound connections at a time (Remove Windows XP SP3 TCP/IP Connections Limit | Windows Reference) ?

I have an xp vm with 1gb dedicated ram/15Mb line and I can get scrapebox to scream along with 50-60 threads.

I'll double check my settings for those and see if that helps.

I purchased the small VPS package at ForexVPS.com. Anyone else have a difficult time remote desktopping into their servers? They've told me everything is up and running, but I can't get any of 3 computers to connect for the life of me. Who woulda thought getting scrape box on a fucking server would be this much of a pain in the ass.

Nevemind. They just told me terminal services had been stopped on the server. That would kinda be helpful when connecting. Retards.

Couldn't let this pass:

Scrapebox tips:

1. Invest in some good proxies. If you have the money, use it and get private proxies since they are much more effective than shared. If not, you must get a nice list of shared proxies at the very least.

----> Spunned
1. Invest in whatever beatific proxies. If you hit the money, ingest it and intend clannish proxies since they are such more trenchant than shared. If not, you staleness intend a pleasant itemize of mutual proxies at the rattling least.

^^ Lol

spunned x2->Purchase a few great proxies. Should you possess the cash, utilize it and obtain personal proxies because they're a lot much more efficient compared to shared. Otherwise, you should obtain a great list of shared proxies in the really minimum.

Any places you would recommend for purchasing personal proxies. Feel free to PM me if you don't feel like publicly sharing.
