Google kills Google Wave

how long has it been around? Seems like a few weeks ago they announced it.
did anyone even use it?
lol this is amusing. I remember when they were all excited trying to get the message across that Wave was gonna takeover email.
Not surprised. I also remember everyone wanting an invite or what not from them when it was released but it seemed useless to me once I got it.
I betaed it. It was alright. I could even see myself using it at some point when I needed to collaborate with more then, say, 4 people on a project over the web.
It had it's uses. I'm kinda surprised they canceled it
You just wonder if they will learn their lesson and stick to what they know best in search. I know Blogger and YouTube have been a great success for them, but they only bought these services out. Blogger was created by Evan Williams who also created Twitter and YouTube was created by former PayPal guys.
They make 97% of their revenue from their ad network. They could launch Google Dick-In-Your-Face and still be the most powerful tech company in the world.
This was pretty much me when I first dug into the WAVE with MUCH excitement...

Ok Google Wave wasn't great and certainly not something I would have used.. Having said that it had some great technology behind it which I'm sure could be used for many other services Google offer.
Yeah, I'm not surprised either. I never had any interest in it because you can only talk to other people that have Google Wave accounts...which is like nobody....fail.

Buzz is retarded too, just like Twitter. I honestly don't see Twitter staying as popular as it is for very long. Facebook I think does have some staying power though because it is actually useful and has a HUGE head start on Google because almost everybody already uses it.

Google wave confused the fuck out of me when i first used it...
...then i tried it again a few times - and it still confused the fuck out of me!. The UI was just horrible, maybe if they had made it more user friendly it would have caught on, but yeah, i cant say i'll miss it.

I beta'd it. Had one of the first hundred invites and I haven't used it since.
The first problem was that no one had it. The second problem was it slowed down the browser.
Not to mention you really type slower knowing everyone else can see you typing.

The funny thing is with any Google product, youre almost afraid to say "I don't get it..." ,out of fear of being laughed at. I kept asking around how others felt about it and everyone just tried to play it off like "Oh yeah, it's cool!" and then they just say nothing else, waiting for you to give them some input. Sucked.
next up on deck for fail, whatever google's new social network is going to be called.

It was useless unless you had a lot of other people using it too.
It *is* possible to gain traction on the incumbent, though... you just need to be good enough for people to use the "other good thing" as well as your thing until you get enough popularity.
