Question for the dudes.. Recommend me your fav electric shaver (aff.links welcome)

I used to hate having to wet shave every morning before heading to work before I started working online so I decided to give the electric shavers a shot. The first thing that you MUST realize if you are switching from wet to dry shaving is that it literally takes 2 to 4 weeks for your face to adjust. I tried Remington, Braun and Norelco.
Bottom line I've been using this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Norelco-7310XL/dp/B002B4ORB6/ref=pd_sim_bt_3"]AMAZON[/ame] for over 10 years now. Of course model numbers change but the top of the line Norelco triple headers have always been my favorite. Easy to clean, affordable replacement blades (about once a year) and very well constructed.

A former marketing prof worked for Gillette back in the day. The shavers are loss leaders so they obviously make the money on the cartridges. The markup is absurd.
Now that P&G has taken over Gillette we can be sure the already ridiculous prices on cartridges will continue to escalate as they release new and innovative products with seven hundred blades.
Best a man can get my ass.
Although I didn’t care before I’m moving on from kiddy-boy Mickey D’s shaving methods (or one can hope). Granted SEO_Mike is on a whole other planet with that badass straight.
All this talk inspired me to step into the double edge blade scene.
Got an Edwin Jagger De89L for $40.
Now that P&G has taken over Gillette we can be sure the already ridiculous prices on cartridges will continue to escalate as they release new and innovative products with seven hundred blades.

FTW - That's exactly the razor I've got - well almost, mine is plain chrome, no lines.
Since I moved onto a double edged razor, I haven't suffered with burn or the annoying hatred of Gillette that I suffer with knowing I am paying them shit loads for those bloody blades!
Everyone must move to a double edge razor like the above. Not only is it cheaper, it's more comfortable, closer and cooler.
Don't forget the Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream though. Again, better than Gillette rubbish, lasts for months, smells nicer and is just cooler. Buy a decent badger hair brush as well.

Looks like inviting stuff. I'm wondering if you live in the UK (where it's imported from), because that shaving cream is $16.50 for a tiny container here in Canada.

I have the most sensitive neck in the world.
After being in a sauna for 15 minutes, immediately lathering on a huge amount of shaving cream with a fresh Gillette Fusion blade, shaving delicately and slowly, spritzing on aftershave to seal inflammation, and then lathering on lotion, I'm lucky if I don't get a bunch of red bumps on my neck.
It would seem that electric buzzers are easier on the skin.

gillette sent it for free to my house as a marketing campaign and it actually worked, because I have been buying replacement cartridges for more than 10 years so far. ( 8 cartridges cost ~12 or 16 €, I don't remember )

Try some Proraso. You can get it at almost any drugstore and it will leave your face feeling awesome. It's $9.95 for a huge tube and really softens a beard well.
Yeah, UK. Even at that price though, it's still good because those tubs last for about 6 months! Or like IMHopeful said, get Proraso, which is just as good.

So I got the Edwin Jagger and gave it a test run. With only generic shaving cream on hand, I worked with what I had. Surprisingly I didn't butcher my face, however it took what seemed like forever to shave.
Working over the mustache area was pretty damn uncomfortable. I was missing the cushy Mach 3 at that point.
DB shaving seems like an art form I'm light years away from mastering. Getting the shaving head at the optimal angle takes practice I suppose.
Ultimately I feel like the shaver owned my pussy ass.

I use a wet shave (I prefer the 2 blade Gilette to the newer 3 or 4 bladers, too bulky), but now I am looking into the double blade thing....
Straight blade was a fascination of mine which I did not follow through on. Keeping a straight blade sharp seems to be a pain from all I read, and going cheap is a no no.
