On Saturday, the UN estimated that 4 million people were affected by the flooding in Pakistan. By Sunday they revised that estimate to 6 million people. Today, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that over 13 million people are affected.
It is no wonder that a UN officials are saying this is bigger than the 2004 tsunami. In fact, that would make it bigger than the combined number of people affected by the Tsunami, Haiti earthquake and 2005 Kashmir earthquake...combined. Make no mistake: this is the worst natural disaster in recent history.

We don't really care about this disaster because our culture/media has desensitized us.
Most news headlines that grab our attention hit us hard and fast the first time we see it. Columbine, 9/11, Virginia Tech, etc.
This one crept up on us slowly. We're not used to shit like that. We want CNN to hit us with headlines HARD AND FAST!!! Wha-bam bam bam!
Says a lot about humanity and how the media is changing how we think.
You know what else is interesting though?
Remember wikileaks? Some of the documents revealed the Pakistanis were fucking us over, taking our money and helping the Taliban. Now this happens and they are crying for US aid.
How much aid is the Taliban sending them for all their love and support?
Some of the article comments are interesting too.
drake123 where is your Saudi Arabian friend, Chinese friend, Iranian friend, Gulf friend ????? Only AMERICA is there in the time of your need.
I ain't sayin' they don't deserve aid. I'm sayin' if they want to plead for our aid, they gotta try to stop killin' our boys.
