I've been reading this forum for a year now and never really contributed much. I've been enjoying your boobs and dickrolls like a freeloader and its about fucking time that stopped. Well the freeloading bit anyway.
I like to share and I'm happy to share what I know but I always get the feeling thats less than I think and it will most likely end up as a case of the blind leading the blind. So maybe I'll just start off with a few really simple fucking things that noobs get confused over in their rush to 'learn'. Please point out things that are wrong or can be done better. I'll try and update with more less retarded nuggets of information if it turns out I'm on the right track.
First - Domains and hosting. It doesn't matter. Just go with what the hell ever is cheap and easy. You're new, you don't know how well you're going to manage and you'll fuck it up so just grab yourself something to play with that won't ruin you. You can always upgrade later. I like subdomains for testing new things so something vague is always useful till its valid enough to move to its own domain. Be aware that you will have some really fucking stupid ideas.
Picking a niche - Start with something you know about. A hobby or interest or maybe your current work skills. It will make your life a lot easier if you already know the niche and even easier if you enjoy reading and writing about it till your eyes bleed.
'I want to learn html/css/php/something-intelligent first'. Yes its useful, but you'll probably just get yourself into the learning loop o' doom and waste another few months. You can scrape by and pick it up as you go. Read the basics then use it as and when you need it. I find learning things on an 'as needed' basis works quite well for me.
Choosing keywords - You should already have your niche. Hammer it into google's keyword tool. Look for anything resembling a product in the niche, or a problem people are trying to solve. If the search volume intimidates you, grab each of those keywords and search them individually. Repeat until you find keywords with a number you're comfortable with and go for it. It might fail, but you'll learn.
Which network to choose? All of them. Personally I prefer to locate products I want to promote and then trace the affiliate program. Through this I learned there are a whole bunch of networks with little to no entry requirements. They may not be the best but you have to start somewhere. Apply for everything and something will stick.
Hope that helps some muppets starting out.
