Just curious if anyone has been getting these 1 cent clicks lately from their ppc arbitrage campaigns. Firstly I never thought it would be possible to get a 1 cent click for a KW that is supposedly being advertised for $1 a click, but then again google never disclosed how they give you your cut.

The only explanations I can think of:

1. Overture fucked me into thinking that the bids for this particular keyword was $1, I used that as a gauge for Adwords.

2. I've read on these boards that using one adblock, preferably the square ones is best to ensure a higher ROI because the highest bidders are shown on top, so I went one further and only used the 234x60 adblock which only shows one ad as a test to see if that statement stands true, unfortunately I'm at a 50/50 with that, because that 1 cent came from that one adblock, and maybe instead of placing the highest bid on that block, Google displayed the lowest one. Which doesn't make sense now that I think about it...

3. Google hates my content, but I almost immediately crossed this one out of the possibility primarily because all my content is original, with some research of course.

4. Smart pricing? I never thought I could get smart priced to 1 cent, might as well have ignored the click... I'm kidding but 1 cent isn't that much better then 0.

Sorry for the long post, granted this is only my second 1 cent click in 2 days I probably shouldn't sweat it... However I've these are my only 2 clicks from 2 visitors in 2 days so far, so when you look at it that way it seems like there might be something wrong, or something I should change. Thanks for any input.

The pricing mechanism is complex. You need to take a few deep breaths and take it easy. Stop worrying about individual clicks and look at the big picture.

If after a week and a few hundred clicks you are only averaging 5 cents a click, you can figure out what is going on. You can't micromanage every click. It is an absolute waste of time and will benefit you nothing.

What is your average click price? You say that is only your 2nd one in 2 days. What did you get for all the other clicks?

Your absolutely right, I shouldn't be concerned with these 2 clicks, because the previous days yielded an average of 90 cents a click from approx. 5 visitors. I'm still new to the arbi thing and recieve fairly little traffic and I have been doing a lot of testing and tweaking, I guess I was just shocked to see that in 2 days, 2 clicks between the 2 days yielded 1cent clicks.

Like you said smart prcing is complex, so I figure I take down my sites for a week according to a suggestion on the Jensense blog, but I just recently check my account and google added 26 cents to that 1 cent click, a bit below my average but I might just leave it up.

One more thing, do you think that by viewing my sites myself repeatedly for tweaking purposes throughout the day can cause the smart pricing due to low conversion rates because Google counts me as a visit? If so is there a way around this?

Don't take down your site because of 2 1 cent clicks. When dealing with numbers you pretty much have to ignore EVERYTHING that is due to small sample sizes.

So in total you have 7 clicks or 8 clicks from visitors in a couple of days. Way too small of a sample to make any kind of inferences from it.

Take it easy. :)

As I said on the other thread, no. Viewing your own site has nothing to do with smart pricing.

I had 4 clicks on one of my sites and earned $0.02 one day and $1.00 the next. It's really weird...I'd just let it run.
