Yeah, so I know I'm probably opening up a big can of worms here, but this is something I came across:

Report Describes Systematic White House Effort to Manipulate Climate Change Science :: Committee on Oversight and Government Reform :: United States House of Representatives

PDF of report: http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20071210101633.pdf

Anyway after reading this stuff, I figured the more people I could show the better. This basically offers proof that the White House is controlling the media and dumbing down America (big surprise huh?).

I'm hoping to hear what some Wicked Fire members have to say about this. Politics is something that interests me, so this is a very interesting topic and report to me, and the more people that know how the gov't is being run, the better IMO.

I believe it too. The government is nothing but lies. Hopefully enough people vote for Ron Paul to actually make a statement...

i am surprised it took 16 months to figure it out. just go back to 2003 when there was no WMDs in iraq but the white house said there was... it was a lie! which means the white house lied, which makes them liars. 35 seconds is all it should have taken the investigation team.

Not only do they lie but their administration are chosen for being stupid and not questioning the party line.

Here is a story about THE press secretary not knowing what the Cuban Missle Crisis is:
The Raw Story | White House press secretary admits she didn't know what Cuban Missile Crisis was

I know she was not born yet, but Christ she is the press secretary not a "Spice Girl". She needs to know these things.

I guess any smart person would not take the job of Press secretary.

Fair enough, we all know we're being lied to.

The thing is though, now there is solid proof instead of just speculation.

And what they're lying about, Global Warming.

I honestly thought, according to all the recent scientific findings, that Global Warming was bullshit. Now I find out that it's actually probably true.

What a fucked up country I live in...

BTW, is anybody reading PDF or links I posted, or are we just gonna' have a good ol' fashion Bush bashin'?

Either way I'm good, but the whole point of me even starting this thread was to PROVE to everyone here that the media is being controlled and we have to research shit ourselves, and QUESTION EVERYTHING.

The article is just more liberal propaganda. It only proves that Henry Waxman is a Democrat. Doing research yourself is not a bad idea if you are not an idiot. By the way, you don’t have to live in this “fucked up country.” There are plenty of countries you could move too. Why not try Mexico. I hear good things about that one.

Good grief. It took some dumbass 16 months to figure this out.

Didn't POTUS tell us he was eliminating the friggen IRS? That's another lie :glowingeyes_sml:

What the fuck? Propaganda? Funny I was under the impression that the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform was "the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications."

Huh, doesn't really sound like propaganda now, does it. And that's the typical answer, 'if you don't like it, leave'. Holy shit, if you can't see all the fucked up problems here, then maybe I'm talking to a wall. And believe me, if I could leave, I would. Perhaps I should have been more clear, I HATE the way our country is being run. There.

An investigation comes out from an incredibly credible source, and you call bullshit. Is it because you don't want to believe it, or because you just want to be stubborn?

Yes, but this investigation isn't JUST about the lies. It's about the manipulation of the media to dumb down the American public. Much more severe.

And I think anyone would have to be extremely ignorant to call this an 'isolated incident.'

No offense - but that committee is known for it's political attacks on both sides, and can not be considered "proof" of any kind.

As a matter of fact - here is the other side of this same committee:

Committee on Oversight and Government Reform - Republicans: Report :: Republicans respond to distorted draft Democratic CEQ report

Exactly my point venrooy. Apparently, when themadpaddy talked about doing “research” he limited his “research” to reading one source before making up his feeble mind. As for his claim that the media is attempting to “dumb down the American public,” all I can say is, in themadpaddy's case, it appears to be working. Finally, again, themadpaddy says the country is “fucked up” and that “if I could leave, I would.” I suggested Mexico before. Do your thumbs work? Do you know which way is South? Are you a free person? If the answer to those questions is “yes” then LEAVE.

Fair enough, perhaps I threw the word 'proof' out there a bit too loosely. I DID however read that report as well, and they are doing what anyone accused of doing anything WOULD do. The part that, to me at least, is funny is the very first sentence of the entire report:

An investigation that began as a bipartisan inquiry into the role of the Council on Environmental Quality in climate change policy has veered into a partisan diatribe against the Bush Administration.

This tells me that they recognized the investigation as being bipartisan, and after getting the results, turned it into a Democratic 'attack'.

The thing is though, that there are hard numbers, and actual testimony cited in the original report, which the Republican rebuttle admits in their paper.

The whole of both reports focuses largely on Phil Cooney and his influence on what went out to the general public, so hearing his testimony and seeing what ends up happening with this will be very interesting.

It seems to me that the original report also seems to be more direct with their quotes and exact numbers, you should check out some of the supporting documents:

http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20071212122744.pdf

http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20071212122810.pdf

http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20071212122836.pdf

And another thing I forgot about, just for laughs, check this out:

An undated CEQ document amplifies this point. The first line of the document listing CEQ edits to the draft denial of the petition to regulate CO2 states simply: “Vulnerability: science.”221 Later in the document, CEQ notes: “Lead sentence is trouble, as it leans too much on science.”222 Far from being the touchstone for CEQ edits, CEQ apparently saw the science of global warming as an obstacle standing in the way of its desired result: the refusal to regulate motor vehicle emissions that contribute to global warming

I think it's hilarious that the CEQ notes say "Lead sentence is trouble, as it leans too much on science". Lol!

Anyway, thanks for chiming in and bringing that document. I'll be very interested in hearing what ends up happening.

LMAO! Are you going to continue this whole debate thing with you letting other people fight your battles, and then saying "exactly my point" or something similar like "that's what I was gonna say". Lol! Classic.

And just so you know fuck-hole, I DID read that report. Maybe you should read them both before posting opinions. It might be kind of tough though since you can't seem to read an entire post, let alone an entire report. God you're dumb.

Funny, I could've sworn I cleared that bit about leaving up, bit if you can't seem to understand it, perhaps you should finish up your high school education before posting.
