For my 200th post, I figured I'd pull out the big guns.

This is a long read, so if you're just casually browsing Wickedfire between important meetings where you've been called in as a consultant to fix a crisis (as I am), please bookmark it and come back later.

---

I'm aiming to save a few of you from some potential embarrassment.

Moot actually means "open to discussion".

So, if you've used it in the past, there have probably been a few snickering at you in silence - myself included.

---

A few people told me to post this in the enlightened section - if it belongs there, just let me know and I'll move it. (My account has the power to move threads to different sections - no idea why, LOL.)

Thanks for reading!

Always

You should probably go back and study English a bit more.

The definition of a word is often determined by the part of speech it's being used as. The definition of moot as a noun is different than that of moot as a verb, both of which are different than moot as an adjective. As a matter of fact, the definition of moot as a verb (your definition above) is virtually the polar opposite of moot's definition as an adjective.

I understand you're trollin' and all, but troll harder my friend. You seem to need some practice.

Always;

I Always find it interesting when people who think they are smart asses come up with a moot point to try and prove their superiority.

It is Always ironic that people who want to seem superior to others tend to look inferior. Just the effort to try and appear superior almost Always tends to highlight an underlying sense of inferiority.

As free advice to the OP, I would Always scrolls down the dictionary definition page to see if there are other meanings to a word, before ASSuming that the first definition is the only one.

In fact, Always ASSuming that words have limited definitions tends to give away a limited familiarity with dictionary usage.

So tell me Always, how does it feel to know that the people you were 'snickering' with when you explained your brilliance were actually likely snickering at you and YOUR ignorance. I can imagine a REAL business owner (not a consultant who sells time) saying:

"What an arrogant idiot, he makes fun of people he thinks don't know how to use the English language, when he doesn't even know the meaning of COMMONLY used words?"

I could say the paucity of your lexicon is an effrontery and it evinces your execrable character. But I'm not like you. I'll simply say you are... a total tool.

Dictionary.com: Moot point
A debatable question, an issue open to argument; also, an irrelevant question, a matter of no importance. For example, Whether Shakespeare actually wrote the poem remains a moot point among critics, or It's a moot point whether the chicken or the egg came first. This term originated in British law where it described a point for discussion in a moot, or assembly, of law students. By the early 1700s it was being used more loosely in the present sense.
this thread is a moot point.

Wow...I mean...lol...shaking head...wtf...so...always...penis...wtf...lol...I mean...

Sorry, this fucktards too easy. I gotta go take a dump now.

I believe a visit from the ban hammer should be mooted.
