Anyone buy the new air? Mine just came in :xmas-smiley-016:

13-inch MacBook Air
1.7GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
8GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
256GB Flash Storage

Hopefully the i7 upgrade doesn't hurt battery life too bad.

You're late. Even jungle-dwelling macfags got their shit already.

I was thinking of getting the Air, but even the new Mac Book pro is quite thin with a lot more power + retina.

Its not as light as the Air, but the few extra pounds is worth it for the retina display. I'm loving mine.

Since throwing away money for the latest polished turd seems to be you guys' thing, I'd be more than happy to shit in a bag, throw some glitter on it, and send it to you for a disproportionate amount of money.

I was going to get one a few weeks ago but then I remembered I'm not not a faggot, so I didn't buy it. Maybe next year.

I also got one. Like it. I just use it for internet stuff so it's perfect for my needs. The multi touch trackpad is fucking nice. I know it costs a lot more but here is the thing:

no noise
light weight
nice design
great battery
fast booting
nice trackpad and keyboard
nice wifi

I don't care about paying twice as much when I work on this thing every day it is a no brainer for me to get the best product. I don't give a shit if another brand costs only half as much and has better specs because I don't need a powerful notebook and the battery, noise, trackpad stuff is much more important to me.

I used to shit on Apple all the time as selling products to sheeple hipsters iFags that are just purchasing a logo.

After 20 years of programming (different stacks, currently using c-sharp, SQL Server, etc) I was in need of an Ultrabook. At that time the MBA was the only game in town (2011). Bootcamped it with Win7.

Been using this MBA for two years now, and its the best laptop build I've ever had. Absolutely rock solid build feel that puts my ASUS and Toshibas to shame.

Spilled some shit on my keyboard about 9 months in, and the track pad started to stick. Drove to the Apple store down the street and they had it replaced the next day, free of charge under the standard warranty. Compare this to my ASUS that took 5 weeks to return when the HDD kept fucking up, and they basically just sent me a new drive with no data restored (gee thanks).

Say what you want about Apple being overpriced, but I'm not in college anymore.. I'll gladly pay a premium if it means I'm getting the best build quality possible with the best service possible.

Do you realise that a computer is one of the most important physical items for making money online?

And that a better computer may improve your work?

Just because I need a good car doesn't mean I'm going to buy a Pink VW Bug.

Macs look like they are made for girls and men who use them look like faggots.

Macs also lack a very important peice that I need to enjoy my ultrabook and that is a clitorus (pointing stick). Thumb pads suck a fat cock.

Why would you want to spend a significant fraction of your life commuting?

Your Internet tough guy routine is very edgy.

The pointing stick argument is legitimate, if you prefer that input device, you're SOL with a Mac. However, saying a unibody aluminum piece of hardware that is hands down built to a higher standard than any other piece of shit plastic Acer/Toshiba/HP/Sony/EVERYTHING ELSE is like a fuckin Ping VW Bug is just plain false and stupid.

Macbooks > * when it comes to build quality.

True, the chassis is better than those listed brands but the chassis of the X1 Carbon is on par if not better. But, I don't buy laptops for their chassis. The Macbooks still do look girly to me though. That's funny that you typed "Ping VW Bug" I made the same exact typo while writing my post.

"Internet tough guy", "edgy"... go back to reddit lol

I never had anything Apple until the iphone 5 came out, I mean nothing not even an ipod just stayed away from Apple for one reason or another. Once I got sick of having problems with my HTC HD2 and then tried one of the Galaxies and still having issues, I said fuck it and got an iphone 5. Was so impressed with it just working like it's supposed to and not fucking up on me or slow internet etc.

After a while I decided to buy a new Macbook Air 2012 i7 8GB 256 SSD found a deal on black friday last year, thought if I was so impressed with the iphone that I might like Macbooks. Anyway I really tried to like it for months but, I just couldn't get used to it. I even installed Win 7 in vmware and had it running on my second monitor. I guess most of the time I was in Win 7. Just minor things in Macs or OSX whatever I couldn't get used to, things like not being able to cut/copy/paste files with the right mouse button, I think alt + tab to switch apps couldn't do that. I use those functions in Windows a lot and when I would be trying to get in the zone and getting work done I felt like I was going slow on the Mac when in Windows I would be flying. Didn't realize how used to I am to the Start Menu being able to quickly find apps, and files with the search etc. (I do remember the Mac spotlight search or whatever being quicker). So I finally just gave up, no matter how much I tried to like it, really liked the look of it and the graphics I even got an Apple display, everything looked really good on it.

I ended up selling the Macbook and getting a Dell ultrabook I can still tell by the resolution quality on my screen and on the Apple display it's a big difference than the Macbook it was much more clear and crisp.

I will also eat my words. I use to be one of those guys that use to think a Mac/Apple was a total waste of money. However, one day a several months ago I went shopping for laptops.

Now I should have not needed a new laptop, but as it turned out my ~$1500 Asus laptop from the year before was basically feeling like a pile of shit. Among such issues where a shitty trackpad, bad battery attachment, and shitty screen.

While browsing laptops at Best Buy, I was sorely disappointed at the Windows laptops. Not just because of Windows 8, but by the general lack of build quality. There is not a PC out there, that I can find, that can offer the same kind of specs that Apple can, at least for the same price.

It's true, I probably didn't need to buy a Retina MacBook Pro, but I will tell you that I am probably happier with this computer than any I've ever bought. Yes it's expensive, but find a similar configuration by any other manufacturer at said price. You can't. If you ask me, retina display is worth the price of admission. OSX is better than Windows for what I do (web development).

I still run Windows for games, but not a big deal.

What I'm trying to say, is that Apple provides a quality product. That which is better than the standard PC market. If you wish to buy a cheap computer, more power to you. Such things are not my battle. However, like a lot of things, I feel you get what you pay for when it comes to computers.

Haters, going to hate.
