23andme.com, anyone tried it?

I did it. I thought it was pretty cool. A lot of people use it for other things like genealogy. And they don't ever tell you that you're going to get something. It's always you have a "chance" or, really, what they say is "X people with your genotype out of 100 people got Y disease." Usually it's something like 5 or 10 unless you're talking about diabetes in which case it's like 30-something (me!). Anyway, if you want to check it out I just got the latest coupon and they let anyone use the coupons even though it's "my" coupon, which is weird. Anyone, multiple times so send it wherever you want.

Send it, post it, like it - share it every way you can!

Here's your $23 off link to share:

lolol. what did you type in google to get here?

Yeah, it's a new experiment if you make another choice after the first door is opened, a new independent experiment with two choices.

The probabilities of the first experiment with three choices are irrelevant since the two experiments are independent and there is no information added by the first experiment to the second.

Wrong. That's an illusion.

The moment the host revealed a goat he changed the denominator from /3 to /2.

It immediately becomes 50/50 unless you still wish to include door #3 for your consideration for some stupid reason.

No luke, lol, it's just probability.
A) You pick the car, host shows a goat, you switch to a goat and lose
(B) You pick goat #1, host shows goat #2, you switch to the car and win
(C) You pick goat #2, host shows goat #1, you switch to the car and win
that gives you a 2/3 or 66.6666.. % chance of winning

Brilliant. I get it now... It's the objects, not the doors, that we should be focusing on for computing the likelihood.

I got hung up on percentages of yes v/s no per door. -Which is not the best way to find out your percentage of winning an object. Very interesting.

Yea crazy, definitely counterintuitive, but once you think about it for like 30 seconds it totally makes sense.

sounds interesting, but as they say no good can come from delving into the future. But sure would go a long way in being more careful, health-wise.
