Here's a link to the horrible reviews of the 28" (27.5" viewable) Hanns-g monitor:

Costco - HannsG 28" Wide Monitor True 1080P with HDMI 3ms 800:1 400 cd/m2

Note that Hanns-g and I-inc are the same company.

Admittedly I owned a 19" Hanns-g monitor for over a year with no problems. But the general track record with these cheap ass monitors is really low so I typically stay away from them. Besides, you just can't beat the crystal clear quality if a Samsung SyncMaster.

Newegg.com - Hanns·G HH-281HPB Black 28" 3ms HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 DC 15000:1(800:1) Built in Speakers

Owned Hanns G for while and no problems here

Ive got dual Samsung 19" 1440x900.

Resolution is a little awkward.

Just bought a macbook pro 13", any recommendations for an external monitor suitable for a dorm room?

I would have to agree, the monitor is not very good quality and not something I would purchase. But...that depends on its purpose, everything has a purpose on the planet.
