30,000 More Troops To Afghanistan

It's about the U.S. having to swing it's Dick in the face of other countries!!

Can someone remind me what exactly our troops are doing over there again?

It's so that the "Good Ole' Boys Club" can pocket some cash during their terms in office at the People's expense.

It's to also JUSTIFY the military budget so that the biggest "Cash Cow" industry next to the Pharmaceutical industry can continue to line the pockets of politicians.

Everything is about Money & Power. With those two things in place, all other facets of human nature can be pretty easily satisfied by those who have attained them.

Here ended the lesson.

Lulz

Can someone remind me what exactly our troops are doing over there again?

Seems like everyone has their own answer to this question.

I'd say we're over there battling Islamic extremism, primarily.

Also, I think timetables are ridiculous. If I was the enemy I'd just wait for the date... and then it's on again.

Well sure it's not a BAD thing! but real life experience (running a business, being in the millitary etc.) is more important.

Jimmy Carter did both of those. :banana_sml: Here's some people that were never in the military :

Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, Sam Brownback, Tom Tancredo, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, Mitch McConnell, Michael Steele, Bill Frist, Trent Lott, Dick Armey, Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush, Bill Kristol, Anne Coulter, Matt Drudge, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh

He was a Senator for what....like 2.5 years and he had 129 "PRESENT" votes.
That was over 8 years as a state senator.

and the right would NEVER do something like that. You sir, are a fucking hypocrite

It's all political. It's sick to see the President of the United States politicize our troops and a war where soldiers are dying.

Moxie, I'm disappointed with this hit list of yours. I would think my buddy Rush would be closer to the top.

30,000 more troops in = how many more Islamic terrorists dead?

It's no victory, but it (Afghanistan) is a more appropriate response to the attacks of 9/11 than Iraq is/was.

I wish he would have mentioned Osama Bin Laden, I'd like to see him dead too. (or prisoned for life, but preferably dead)

Anyway.... this was an announcement of a surge and a withdrawal at the same time.

For me, basically, let's kill as many as we can and then get out and hopefully Afghan's government will be able to keep the extremism at bay on it's own.

Ultimately, we shouldn't be surprised AT ALL at this decision; this is exactly what he said he'd do.

McChrystal asks for 60,000 troops with a minimum of 40,000 within a year, and Obama waits 3 months to lock up his healthcare crap in the House before sending the general a piddly half of what he wanted.

And then he brays to the left about how he's not writing those evil generals a 'blank check' - gotta show them who's boss, ya know! Now everyone bow down before Obama's foreign policy supremacy!

McChrystal Says Obama Decision 'Changes Everything'

Commander of US, NATO forces in Afghanistan welcomed President Obama's revised strategy and tells troops there is level of commitment we have not had before

In a statement issued just before the president's speech, General McChrystal said the long strategy review provided him with "a clear military mission and the resources to accomplish" it. Later, speaking to some of his troops in Afghanistan, the general said after the president's deployment decision and speech "things are different." "We have a level of commitment that we have not had before, and that will change everything," he said.
If Obama shit out the second coming of jesus christ you'd find something wrong with it.

we cant win this war. you cannot win against a country that ranks #1 in when it comes to opium and has huge experience in guerilla warfare. can you take posession and control cities? yes. The guerilla? nope.

Afghanistan is a pointless war. The taliban are still there (OK, not in power of the whole country but they still are disturbing the peace) and Osama is somewhere else. And there's not even any oil there that makes it worth all the money to at least stabilize any oil-rich regions.

Obama, at least, is making an effort before pulling out of it. It will end the same as it ended last time the russians pulled out.

One thing has to be pointed out tho: It's Bushs war, not Obama's war.

Does anyone recall the administration's stated goals (aside from the pullout schedule)? I didn't watch the speech and haven't kept up with the propaganda.

Are the goals flighty? Something like "protect our national interests, democracy, freedoms, etc."

Or, are there numbers? For example, "Kill bin Laden and his top 20 leaders, exterminate 70% of Taliban chieftains, leave the door open for incursion into Pakistan for al-Qaeda." And are there performance benchmarks for Karzai (after all, he's not a reliable partner)?

McChrystal seems to think the mission is clear. But, has the administration actually explained the mission to the populace?

AGAIN! You cannot announce a surge and a pullout at the same time. Anyone that doesn't see this just is too bias or too ignorant.

Im not gona judge you....you know which category you fall into.

P.S. I told my girlfriend last night that we were gona really "tear it up" in the bedroom tonight and I was gona pull out in 2 mins....finished or not. Needless to say she was a bit confused and dissapointed.

P.S. I told my blow up doll, don't judge me, last night that we were gona really "tear it up" in the bedroom tonight and I was gona pull out in 2 mins....finished or not. Needless to say she was a bit confused and disappointed. (It almost looked like she had a permanent, shocked look on her face. Weird.)
