33 clicks and no sales. Should I kill the ad?

Were the dickrolls just a passing fad? Cause if I had posted this 3 months ago this thread would have been full of them, guaran-fucking-teed. It's nice that wf is more helpful now, tho.

It's different when the OP shows that he is actually trying things out.

$25/day is not nearly enough. Create some SEO sites so you can get some additional testing money.

Damn I wish I had a reason to live in California! Damn consertatives! Well I'm gonna pause the campaign until tomorrow and just roll with the new and improved ads once they are approved.

@Cardine, I'm gonna take your advice and continue working on my seo sites. Hopefully you won't mind if I can PM if need any help on that.

Alright so were here, and it's the following day. I updated my ad and pictures so I have the the campaign with ad setup from post #32.

Currently I have 21 clicks, no sales, and a CTR of 0.117%, 15,814 impressions, spending only $3.01 so far.

I'm a little disappointed about that but I don't care. It's all about learning right now so I'm not taking the disappointment seriously at all.

But I can't get over my mindset which is presenting the product to 21 people should atleast yield 1 sale.

I wanna look at this from a magazine selling standpoint.

1.)We have the opener which enters the potential customer into the sweepstakes and then informs the person that we have a magazine offer.

2.)The person may had no idea when they initially called that they would be spending money, they just called to win money that they may never see.

3.)The person then agrees to pick out magazines priced @ $1 a week either willingly or unwillingly. Then transfered up to the closer

4.) The closer gives them the details of the offer and then ask for the credit card number(which is where the fun begins, rebuttal time!

If these events happen 21 times in a day then there is bound to be atleast 1 sale.
So let me relate this to what I'm doing here.

I'm rambling on here and wasting time I know, but I love bouncing ideas off of successful people.

I'm gonna go to the Justin Dupre blog and learn how to setup that landing page via WP.

I may also try some Youtube marketing with a re-direct to the landing page.

haha i dont think ive ever posted anything on WF, i just read this forum for a giggle...but this thread caught my attention so im giving my 2 cents.

im asian and a woman so my advice for this product's marketing: target asian girls...

nuff said :)

word?! I'm probably gonna commit suicide if this niche becomes the new ("grow a bigger dick!" or "I got ripped!") and never cash in on it in time enough. If I had the money, I'd come out with an "ass enlargement supplement" and rebill the crap out of some self conscious chick! I go to the mall and see women buying $400 shoes and don't think twice after making the swipe. Why not pay $80/month to boost the ole ego!

That line leaped out of your copy. Use it as a headline without the exclamation point, and show a nice round butt.

I would be careful with this because this can give you garbage traffic (guys clicking out of curiosity) but then it all depends on how you're gonna sell it on your landing page. So make a few landing pages and split test them.

1. 33 clicks means nothing
2. your ad copy kinda sucks. You are trying to be too cute with your headline. Remember the rule: Clarity trumps persuasion.

try something like:

Want A Bigger Butt?
New underwear let's any woman "back it up" just the way guys like. See how it works...

or

Get The Butt You Want
A flat rear is so 1980. Our special underwear will give you the booty men dream of. See how it works...

Those are just some quick tweaks i cam up with real quick, but split test them vs. your control, i have a feeling they would work better. And make sure you test a TON of images...

Were you refering to this ad copy:

Make your butt look bigger

Wear these underwear with jeans, skirts, shorts, dresses. Then watch how the guys stare at you! Get your pair today!

Or the ad copy from post #1?

I may play around with that "Get the Butt you want" ad

Ah, i was referring to the copy in the OP. But that second copy could use work too. Headline feels wordy/clunky. Also could hit it from a deeper emotional level.

Maybe try:

A Bigger Butt, A Sexier Strut
Revolutionary undergarment turns the flattest fanny into a voluptuously plump rump. See how it works...

The trick is to have a call to action that gets them to learn more. Don't mention "buy now" in this ad. Go for the "learn more" appeal, but don't just say "learn more" make it more appealing.

Damn, I need to to tap into whatever it is that will help me come up with phrases like that! I think that I'm just being too conservative

My Ctr has increased to 0.124% so far. I'm gonna just pause this ad for the night and come up with another one before approval time tommorrow.

Thanks alot, ya'll have shown alot of love

Well, i'm a writer and i was a copywriter at a pretty big ad agency at one point, so that kinds stuff comes more naturally.

Here's some advice, focus on your core strengths, then HIRE EXPERTS in areas you are not strong in. I know it may be tough at first if you are a noob and have a small budget, but once you get past that phase, keep that advice in mind.

I can write no problem, but i can't design or program for shit. But i hired TOP NOTCH people in those areas (not cheap Indians) and it's made a WORLD of difference.

Also, you can def improve on your writing, start reading some books on copywriting and start writing every day. It will help a ton even if you are not a writer at heart.

good luck with the campaign!

The niche you chose has so much potential for funny headlines. Why do you not see this?

Get a 'bootyful' butt

Thin butt? Buy booty

etc. This is easy.

Most girls are worried they have a fat ass. I'd play around with keywords carefully to find the right people who want a bigger one.

(I, too, have worked professionally as a copywriter.)

Make some ad images out of screenshots from the Sir Mix-A-Lot video.

lol....

might sound weird but are you split testing this ad with guys? you know the CTR would be huge with nothing but booty pics.. but target it as "buy this for your wife" might convert well or completely fail.. test it..

There are really two ways to think about ads:
  1. Get as many clicks as possible. Your goal is to have everyone who sees your ad click on it. Funny headlines, text that makes curious, promise "information". But you'll get a ton of people who're not willing to plunk down cash once they find out what it's really all about. Best for pay-per-view. High CTR, low conversion.
  2. Get clicks from the most likely buyers. Have only those click who would actually be willing to pay for this stuff. Prequalifying text. "Clarity trumps persuasion." as rgordon83 said. Make it clear that this is a sales offer. Best for pay-per-click. Lower CTR, higher conversion.
You can improve your odds with 1) if you have a kick-ass landing page that moves people from browsing mindset to buying mindset. But you said you were direct-linking and vendor pages often suck at this. They're made for people who are already willing to buy. You earlier ads clearly were 1) which is why you didn't get sales. Too many curiosity clicks.

So go 2) and accept a lower CTR, but be careful no to go too low because CTR is part of many ad systems' quality score. Not sure how POF works, but on Facebook, Yahoo or Google, if your ad doesn't get enough clicks, they just won't show it anymore or require much higher bids.

Funny headlines do not sell products nearly as well as clear/direct ads. IMO, the increase in CTR from a funny ad will not make up for the decrease in CVR.
