There is a network I want to advertise on, but their rates seem really high at $4 CPM. What seems to be the going rate for CPM with large media buys?

I did a search and saw other people were paying anywhere .35 cpm and up which sounds pretty decent.

Which network is this? Do you see any affiliate ads running at this CPM or just brand ads?

They are probably trying to sell you premium rate, you might be able to buy remnant and negotiate it down.

EDIT: I assume you are not talking about PPV networks, like Media Traffic? What is it?

The network is autoforums.com and they have all brand names currently and smaller shops, no affiliates.

Does not look like they have a self-service / real-time bidding system. Are you negotiating with a rep? What is the minimum buy?

If their inventory is sold out to premium advertisers who only care about brand exposure it could be hard to compete.

$4 CPM is a bit steep for a direct buy...but it is highly targeted to the auto industry so it could be very profitable for certain auto campaigns (cough insurance). negotiate it down to something more reasonable. oh, and don't post your traffic sources here.. it's not smart to give away your potential valuable traffic source to competition :)

They don't accept affiliates so I am not really too worried unless there are other insurance agents on here.

Nah, auto insurance is dead as a doornail. There is no way it could be profitable at $4 CPM.

These are the freaking forums that get crazy number of pageviews per unique visitor. CTRs are going to be like averages on Facebook (looooooow).

The current buy-in is 25k and they don't seem like they want to negotiate the prices at all.

Spoiled branding bastards. Well if their inventory is sold out good for them! You cannot compete with someone willing to waste money.

$4 is high? I've been quoted €28 CPM from news organisations. $38 at today's exchange rates. Of course, that quickly came down to €7 after 1 phonecall.

They are looking for fools. I mean premium brand advertisers.

Given how quickly they dropped the price means most of their inventory goes unsold at that rate.

LOL k bro. You keep telling yourself that ;)

*FACEPALM* have you heard of frequency capping?

don't post shit unless you know what you are talking about.. you are quickly moving up in rank on my Top 10 Most Retarded Poster list :)

Negotiate a $500 - $1000 test buy and see if it is profitable before doing $25k.

this.

The $1K test is a good idea if you can sell them on the fact that you're not a big brand banger and want to work with them. If they don't care about that then their loss.

I thought you would know that "XXX is dead" is the code for "I do not want more competition". LMAO.

Indeed, but you are not allowed to do it everywhere. Have you been frequency capping your Facebook campaigns?

facepalm cannot be used to express this amount of stupidity

Could you try your best to express it? There is no frequency capping setting on Facebook. Are you saying this is the only ad network that does not have this feature?

What if you are doing direct mediabuy and the site insists you go through their system that does not have frequency capping?

Tell me what am I missing here, OK?

After the several calls today they are not negotiable. They want big brands and as the rep told me they are not really looking for anything small time at all. Oh well back to facebook ads for me.
