50 Cent's $350k briefcase

You need to understand the position and life he lives.

The rap game is like the jungle, you need to consistently show off your strength, strutting your stuff like a Peacock. It lets your fans know that you're worthy of their praise and let's your peers know that you are virile.

If you come from middle-class suburbia stunting won't make sense to you, but if you're from Southside Jamaica, Queens you'd probably "get it".

Snack on this:

Saddam Hussein's unwonted displays of wealth (such as his gold toilet)... Why would someone do things like this? Does anyone really want a gold toilet???

No.

It displays power - it's literally a throne.

I used to wonder why rappers do this, but once it was laid out to me in a similar fashion I actually respect the game a little bit more. :playboy_sml:

I love how sergey and larry the google guys wear $5 tees from target.
Fact is 60% of all NBA players go broke after retirement. NBA players' financial security no slam dunk - thestar.com

You dont have to be a modern day show off clown to be rich or feel good about your accomplishment. Sad part is most people live by perception and would point at 50cent as the rich guy before they point at Sergey Brin.

this is true.

im starting to see a trend, and more support for NOT displaying wealth, instead just having it and spending it more subtlety and humbally, as opposed to flaunting it

pfft showing off 2 million? How would he react if Sergey or Larry were to show off their $$ ? 20,000 million lol.

lol anybody who thinks 50 is just doing this for the lulz is dumb.

read the 50th law, awesome book. It'll show you how he uses his gangsta and baller image to get kids to buy his shit. He's fabricated some amazing gossip stories in the past just for this purpose.

For those of you who consider your profession to be advertising and marketing and are criticizing this video, if 50 Cent came to you asking for suggestions on some viral campaigns, what exactly would you tell him? Do you think it's going to be profitable for him to be seen driving a Prius, wearing clothes from the Gap, living modestly and steadily contributing to his 401k to save up for his golden years? He needs to pander to the consumer base that made him rich, not alienate them. His fans want to see him engaging in a certain lifestyle, because he's not strictly selling music, he's selling a dream of wealth and upward social mobility.

50 Cent needs to do this in a way that Sergey and Larry do not. They are selling a different product, in a different industry, where these strategies are not necessary. If we lived in some alternate reality where Google needed its co-founders to be balling harder than any rapper known to man, I'd be curious to see how fast they start packing their Boeing 757's full of gold bullion and diamond-encrusted cases filled to the brim with hard currency.

He makes some of the most wackest music in the industry and gets paid a considerable amount of money for it. Amazing! Kids are stupid nowadays.

That makes perfect sense. I have to agree with you. It does make you respect him more. He knows who his target audience is, and caters to what they want and need to see to buy more of his merchandise.

He worked and hustled hard to get to where he is today so why shouldn't he show some bling?

I have no doubt this video was created with the intention of it goin viral and growing 50 cents facebook and twitter followers.

Well stated :)

What I don't understand is how someone that makes all that money with words, sounds so ignorant. You would think that a wordsmith of sorts would be slightly more educated.

He hardly makes any money with his music anymore. He banked hard on Vitamin Water and is one of the few rap artists that has invested his money well.

That video, the must, the rest, it's just an act. Watch his interviews on CNBC, etc. The guy does have a head on his shoulders and he can actually speak relatively intelligently believe it or not. He reportedly made 100+ mil AFTER taxes on the vitamin water deal, so I think this silly gangsta shit is just for shits and giggles...

Exactly! 50 should be respected for his entrepreneurship at the very least. The deal he brokered with Vitamin water was huge for him and showed that he is more than just a rapper from New York...

50th law is really a must read for business men and entrepreneurs.

It's a great book. I expected to hear a bunch of nonsense about gangsta this, gangsta that. Instead, 50 cent came across as an extremely intelligent and savvy business person. This is exactly the type of thing he does to intentionally create buzz.

And even if it's not, so what??

I spent an hour on the dock next to my house next to some alligators (under the night sky, in the rain) while I was listening to the 50th law audiobook.

It made the chapter on realism even more intense.

warning, vodka may cause me to lose english skills...

This forum seems to have an obsession with 'bling' and the way black people display their wealth.

How is the video above anything other than pathetic?

Hvnt you found out how to make monies online yet? Hsnt someone linked you to the secret of WF?
