Few weeks ago Bernie Ecclestone was brutally attacked during a robbery. Among others, the thieves targeted Ecclestone's Hublot Big Bang King Power. But Bernie (81 years old) fought for it without givinup, suffering serious consequences.

Hublot didn't lose the opportunity to turn this into a great campaign.
I find this very inspiring for a sales letter.

There is anything I need:
• Powerful headline
• Controversy
• Shock
• A real testimonial
• Attention grabbing heroshoot
• Meme and anchors

Wow, hopefully old boy is getting a nice paycheck out of this. But if get robbed you can have it, I'll buy another one. If they arent trying to kidnap a person, I'm not willing to die for it. I have a buddy who fought thieves over a cell phone, not smart.

If anything its more for principle

The best cell phone isn't worth like an Hublot, don't you know?
But apart this meaningless detail, the message is strong: a customer is able to fight for a product (whatever it is), this creates a meme into reader mind like a virus (absolutely great value of that product). Next time reader is going to make a purchase that meme is into his subconscious.
Think how you can apply this concept to your sales letters.

Yes I figured as much. And that wouldn't make me buy something, the same way I didn't go out and buy the same cell phone my dumb friend risked his life for. But interesting story though.

I'm a Big fan of Formula 1 so it was a shame to hear what happened to Bernie.

Those four fuckers punched him to the ground then kicked him in the head until he went unconscious and also tore his girlfriend's earrings out. The guy is 80 years old.

You are a marketer used to see beyond images and messages.
99.9% users ("the sheep") don't have this mindset.

I don't think that's a great ad.
To me the message is something like: "Get a Hublot, and you'll end up like this guy in no time!"
I don't want to get punched for a fucking Hublot, it makes me want to NOT BUY a Hublot.

LOLOLOL... Being one of the richest men in the world, if he does get a paycheck, its going to be chump change to him if anything.
