Fucking indecision...

Yeah - I'm going to college in a year with no idea what I want to study.

Nothing sparks my interest. Nothing school related ever has.

Suggest me a good degree, will ya? I'm looking for something interesting that could pay the bills if my affiliate marketing ventures tank. Something hands on. Something practical.

Et tu, Boobus?

If you're not sure, seriously don't waste your money. Take some time before you go and decide what you want to do beforehand... if it's even what you want to do at all.

I'd say a combination of marketing and ecom or comp sci. The marketing will help you develop great content and learn the psychology of people which will help you develop successful campaigns.

The ecom or comp sci will help you learn how to execute those campaigns.

They said on CNN this morning that a high percentage of doctors are near retirement age and there is going to be a shortage in the near future. Surgery is pretty hands on.

A business degree or IT management would work great for your AF Biz and they would be something to fall back on.

What you learn in college is really about learning to effectively problem solve.

The guys who have the highest level of happiness versus headaches and hassles are craftsmen. You can learn a high paying craft in a couple of years without going deep into debt.

If you have no clear plan, and you don't want to be anything that actually requires a degree (doctor, lawyer), then don't go. Waste of money if you have no practical use for a degree.

But if you're still unsure, definitely go for freshman year and live the experience. Drop out after that if you don't like it.

I did computer science and math double degree. I like the computer science but I now wish I hadn't gotten the math and had gotten a second degree in business focus on entrepreneurship. Of course back then I had no idea I loved business so.

So anyway I'd suggest probably business is a good thing to study and computer science is fun if you enjoy that sort of stuff.

You'll find though that math degrees are vastly useless. Computer science is both more relevant and more math intensive (at least as far as covering math that is useful in real life) and more interesting.

Good thing about starting out is that you can figure it out once you're there. You'll start with your general education courses (GE's such as english, math, hist, humanities, social science, etc) and choose once you take something that captures your interest.

Although you don't need a college degree to be successful online, it does provide some what of a support net if you don't make online monies....

Who gets hired right out of college these days, when a degree and whopper loans look more like a ball and chain?

Something hands on. Something practical.
Do you like to work with your hands when you're offline? If so, why not learn construction, carpentry or a similar trade? There is always a need for this, and you could get work even if you don't have formal employment. Some people in these fields make $50 to $100 an hour.

Just a thought, being that you said you were considering practical, hands-on work.
