A ? for College Graduates...

I took psychology. It has applications for both your personal life and in business (marketing, management, etc etc). Plus, at my school at least, it was literally 80% girls. And lets be honest, isn't that the point? As others have said, unless you NEED a specific degree for a job you wanna do (doctor, lawyer, engineer) then school is really about the life experience. So enjoy it.

I guess my point is I just don't see why you'd want to waste your time studying math instead of business unless you plan on being in accounting or economics.

Or finance, or quantitative finance, or banking, or derivatives trading, or to be an executive at a tech company and actually understand what your employees are doing (applies well for engineering, physics, math etc). Lets take a look:

ExxonMobil CEO: Civil Engineer
Exxon's Previous CEO: PhD Chemical Engineer (also received the largest retirement package in history)
BP CEO: PhD Geology

CEO of Renaissance Technologies, a Hedge Fund with over $15bil assets and his worth is $8.5bil: PhD in Mathematics. The fund has also averaged 35% annual returns after all fees, making it one of the most successful hedge funds.

Lockheed Martin CEO: Aerospace Engineer

Mukesh Ambani (net worth $29bil): Chemical Engineer

Anil Ambani (net worth $13.7bil): Chemical Engineer

Dirk Meyer (AMD CEO): Computer Engineer

Jeff Bezos: Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude.

Steve Ballmer: Mathematics (minored in Econ)

Vikram S. Pandit (CEO of Citigroup): M.S. Electrical Engineering, PhD Finance, MBA.

Dieter Zetsche (CEO Daimler Group): PhD, Electrical Engineering.

Want me to go on?

Yes, I'm glad you noticed I forgot to mention finance.

And please, if that makes you feel better go for it? lol Has nothing to do with my point but yes, you may entertain yourself some more.

I just lol @ people that think it has no value or ability to help get you a good job.

There's other paths you can take that can make you successful, and an MBA is very valuable, but I can almost guarantee the people in here hating on an undergrad biz degree....don't have one. If you don't have one how would you know what value it holds?

Best Undergrad College Degrees By Salary

Considering Business is in the bottom 50% of undergraduate degree salaries, I'd say that's a good indicator of what "value" it holds. Take a look at all of the top degrees. Every single one is math intensive.

Boy I'm sure glad you ignored the list of billionaires/CEOs with real degrees, and that was just a few I found.

All you're doing is proving that business degrees aren't worth the MOST....how is this saying business degrees are A) A Joke or B) Worthless?

And no shit engineers can and do become CEO"s...not my point once again. I don't think anyone is trying to argue that engineers are stupid? lol the fuck you even trying to argue about at this point? I have no idea.. all I know is an undergrad business degree will get you a good job if you have your shit together and don't coast through courses and actually get involved and get some experience...never once said bba's were the sweetest fucking thing in the world but appreciate you stating the obvious about engineers making more money, lol I didn't just go to school with a buncha engineers making $7/$8 more an hr at their internships than me.

If you say so man lol whatever makes you feel good about yourself.

Like I said, I guess my job in Manhattan is a joke, man I really fucked up getting an undergraduate business degree, how stupid of me.

There are plenty of janitors and burger flippers in Manhattan. Where you work makes absolutely no difference.

I did Business with an IT focus, and did a lot of human-computer interaction coursework (interface design, user studies, etc...). Absolutely perfect for the online world. I can design, I can run/design user testing, I can code my own tracking systems, and I have the business knowledge as well. Find coursework where you can work with a real client rather than sit in a classroom, and find an internship - maybe not through school - that you think will give you experience.

College is worthless if you don't put in an effort, but you can make it extremely worth your while if you study something that gives you actual experience & skills, not just classroom learning.

it does when they move you from Ohio to work there. Don't see too many janitors getting relocation assistance to move from other states to work there lol.

Richest Men Of All Time

Depsite the source, you'll find they probably where the richest men of all time.

What did they have in common... Real world experience.

How to fuck over. How to dominate. How to grab the opportunity. How to use people cleverer and cheaper than themselves to do the grunt work.

In other words, nature.

In my opinion, the quicker you get out there, getting your arse beat... the better.

Different skills/approaches are required as times change.

just stating the obvious. You don't even know what the fuck you're trying to prove, the only thing you've proved in this thread is that you're a prick...lol @ "manhattan has many burger flippers" ...ROFL good one cocksuck.

Because you're trying to make the case that where you work somehow makes it better. It doesn't. At all. You were saying how a BBA is "highly valuable", and the numbers show it isn't. So you resorted to saying "Yeah well I work in Manhattan!" - Guess what? So do a lot of Starbucks employees. You think that matters at all? Fact is you're a BBA who couldn't hack it in a harder major, no MBA, and you work for someone else despite this being a forum for working for yourself.

Is holding a normal job bad? Of course not. Is trying to use it as some excuse as to why you're awesome and better than someone else because you work in Manhattan (whoop-dee-fucking-doo) lame? Yes.

You're completely wrong. You're wrong about why I said I work in Manhattan, you're wrong about my point with undergrad business degrees, lol.

Oh shit, theres other people that work in Manhattan, some of which have shitty jobs? Wow cocksuck, I had no idea?! thanks for the brilliant info. I named the city because of the fact that A they have a rich talent pool in their own backyard and B they're spending money to take little old me, with my measly worthless undergraduate degree, and moving me there with as rich of a talent pool as there already is in their own backyard.

What you're doing is coming up with your own incorrect ideas of what I'm saying in order to make it look like you're winning an argument lol. ..."Yea Well I work in Manhattan!" ROFL you are stupid as fuck, clearly wasn't what I was saying but again, in order to make it look like you're winning an argument here you're trying to distort my point.

And LOL @ me not being able to hack a harder major? I'm glad you know who I am now because you've responded to me in a thread on the internet.

Is trying to use it as some excuse as to why you're awesome and better than someone else because you work in Manhattan (whoop-dee-fucking-doo) lame? Yes

the FUCK are you talking about?
I'm done with this thread lol ...you've turned it into utter bullshit in an attempt to make it look like you're winning an argument.

You were saying how a BBA is "highly valuable", and the numbers show it isn't.
WRONG. The first thing I said was in response to someone that said undergrad degrees are WORTHLESS. They have value, I know this first hand, and you aren't going to win that argument you stupid fuck lol.

If your job is so fucking awesome why aren't you telling everyone about your $500k/year salary? Instead you're talking about where you work, which nobody here gives a shit about.

Now fuck off please.

I just graduated college, the fact that I have a real job is fine with me asshole.

Again, I said where I work to prove that an undergraduate degree has value...if it didn't have value they wouldn't pay money to move me anywhere, let alone into a city with plenty of talent already there. I'm not talking about where I work, I'm talking about a BBA not being worthless and I woulda said the same thing had I got the ebay job I interviewed for and moved to San Jose....you can fuck off now.
